Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ThailandThere’re so many conditions about the facility. Heater and warm water will run on only specific time. They will charge you in cash if you dont buy the breakfast coupons which I found it’s 30 TWD cheaper per person if buying at the local restaurant. Anyway, you dont have so many choices in Alishan.
just found it cheaper than others on that date and staff was nice.

SingaporeLike most other hotels in Alishan, this hotel is also a little old.
The hotel is in a very convenient location in the main Alishan recreational park itself. However, as most of the accommodations are below this very long flight of stairs, we strongly do not recommended bringing along large luggage. The hotel also offer many tours such as sunset, sunrise, stargazing tour etc at a pretty reasonable price with pickup right at the lobby itself, so if convenience is your top priority we would recommend signing up for them. Overall great for an overnight stay to catch the sunrise!

CanadaThe location was fantastic, right under the stairs that lead to the shuttle buses. It is a simple hotel, not fancy. Probably a 3star hotel in Western standards. It was a small room but worked great for us!

CanadaIt was freezing at night as they don’t turn on the heat unless it’s below 10 degrees Celsius; it was 11 degrees when I was there *cry*. The water didn’t get very hot either, not that taking a shower is enjoyable in the cold anyway. Building and rooms are a bit outdated.
The man at the reception was great, friendly and informative. This hotel is one of the cheaper options and gives a breakfast coupon to a local buffet called Haishan Yuan. They booked us a free shuttle to the bus station.

AustraliaUnexpectedly dated and run down. Toilet looked uninviting, enclosed, no ventilation with stale stench. No heating or air-conditioning even though it was 10 degrees C outside. Needs to wrap yourself in dooner to get comfortable in the evening, in a small crammed room. Location is on a long hike down the slope from the entrance gate of recreation park. Being given vouchers to hike up long steep steps to have breakfast in the shopping precinct every morning, battling with hundred of patrons scrambling for a seat. Most horribly cold albeit meant to be hot food. Pricy accommodation for such poor quality which appears to be ubiquitous in the area. Stayed for 2 nights but would never repeat the experience again. Generally poor quality food and accommodation in the area that I would suggest doing a day trip only if contemplating to visit the area.
Nothing really.

ChinaIt was so cold in the room, even after they turned on the heater (not really heating up). I asked for pickup from bus station but waited for 40 min still no one is coming. So I had to walk all the way up. Luckily it was not that far as I thought. Room was ok and the staff was kind too.

NetherlandsBeds are way too small for two persons. Shower and room overall were very old and too small to comfortably take a shower in. The room should be a 2 person room, not for four. Breakfast is included but you only get a coupon for a very average buffet breakfast at a local restaurant.

United StatesStayed in five locations on my Kong Kong and Taiwan trip, this was the most expensive and, by far, the worst accommodations of the trip. Maybe the old facilities are common - no separate shower stall just drains in the floors in the open bathroom, told not to flush toilet paper, can't use heater outside certain hours, etc - but I somehow missed all those features everywhere else I stayed.
Staff was helpful. The bed and pillows were fine, I guess?

GermanyThe room gets cold during the night if the temperature outside drops to single digits. There are heaters, but it is only on from 7:00 pm till 5:00 am (I believe). And I barely feel anything. The breakfast is offered at a nearby restaurant in a buffet style from 7:00-9:00 am. For whatever reason, when I informally asked about options for a decent hike in or near the area, the staff's responses were a bit passive-aggressive.
Great location for those planning to stay in the park overnight. It is near the train station and a little walk up and down from the bus station.
