Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MalaysiaI have no complaints about my stay. It was a very pleasant stay for sure.
I loved the warm hospitality of the owner, and the fact that we were staying right above their tea house made the experience even more special. The owner took us to his tea farm, where he shared his knowledge about harvesting, different types of tea leaves, and his journey to becoming a business owner alongside his wife. It truly enriched the entire experience, and I definitely learned a lot more about tea.

AustraliaWhile the room I stayed in was pretty basic, it was functional.
Remus was a great host. He offered to give me a lift to and from various nearby places, and gave me tips on where to go and what to do. The highlight of my stay was definitely the free tea tasting. Remus and his partner were tons of fun to talk to while we tried lots of delicious local tea from their shop. The location is good if you would like to explore the Shizhou tea trails, which I highly recommend.

United KingdomWould have liked to spend another night or two.
Everything was clean, neat and well-kept. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. The owners are absolute gems. They provided a traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony as part of the package. The teas are all top notch.

GermanyAccessibility by public transport is okay, but obviously not perfect. However, that applies to most accomodations in the Alishan area.
The hosts showed us their tea factory and a sunrise spot. Also, they did two tea tastings with Us and explained us a lot.Great and lovely hosts! We also liked the rooms. There are some beautiful trails nearby too (Mist Trail, Sakura Trail, Tea Trail).

SingaporeI think the stairs were a problem but the host helped to carry my luggage up. The host probably isn't the best at speaking English so it would be great if you could speak a little Chinese.
A really accommodating host, I wanted to buy tea so I asked whether I could drink tea at 9.30pm, we drank till 11 pm and he gave me a free additional packet of tea leaves from the ones we drank. Tea is produced by themselves and is cheaper than elsewhere.

MalaysiaThe hosts are friendly and willing to fetch us from/to shi zhao bus station as we need to take the bus to HSR. The room is clean and everything we need is there. We enjoy the session of tea tasting particularly. The tea is really nice and we ended up buying a few from them. They even invite us to go to their tea farm but we do not have enough time as we need to catch the bus.

The hotel staff was really kind to drive us to dinner place and even fetch us back after dinner. She was very kind to introduce to use places of visit and even shared a great location to watch sunrise. That location wasn't even shown on google maps.

GermanyThis has nothing to do with the property: The only thing you need to consider is that if possible rent a motorbike (or car) in Chiayi and then drive up to Alishan. You will save a lot of time since buses dont drive that often and some hiking trails will be far off their routes.
We had a great tome at Satoris. The owners supplied us with insider advice and even gave us a private tour through their tea fields.

MalaysiaNo lift for guests but she allowed us to use for going up only. I don’t understand that part, has lift but not for guest?? Anyway, stair is very narrow so a bit hard to bring down medium bag. No air conditioner in the room, ok during winter, they provide electric blanket. Summer i think will be hot. They should tell inside booking.com all of these conditions not after you booked. Door is not sound-proofed so can hear people talking outside.
Room is big for triple beds.

FrancePlenty of water on the bathroom ground when I arrived, with portable fan ON. A dehumidifier machine was ON too, in the room ! No bath towel (because « eco-friendly », as they say …). But a kind of « paper towel » to be used :( Bed and room were not clean :( Only cash accepted for paying the room :( I usually never post negative comments (see my other ones) but in that case, I did not like to be considered as « the tourist » … Sorry for that.
