Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyAmazing hostel. I wanted to stay 4 days but extended to 6, because I felt so comfortable there. Staying in the balcony room (6 bed dorm) is highly recommend because of the amazing views. Compared to other hostels in Dulan, the Tranquilo hostel attracts more locals and digital nomads and seems a bit more quiet. I met really interesting people there and would totally stay again! I loved the combination of being close to shops and restaurants, and having my personal space, too. The manager Austin and the staff members are always so polite and kind. Austin’s coffee is great, too. Sometimes there is a sweet lady selling cookies and cakes (highly recommended)! They taught me so much about Dulan and Taiwanese culture and made my stay memorable. If you want to go surfing, you can easily rent surf boards at a nearby shop, which is also great for socializing if you want to grab drinks and meet international travelers. Overall, great stay in Dulan and especially the Tranquilo hostel.

CanadaWell located and the staff is incredible. There was no window in our private room, but other than that, it has everything you need. You can have a beer or a coffee with a discount as a tenant and there is a place to store your bicycle.

BelgiumThis is a must go in Dulan! Most beautiful hostel in my 4 months of travels, every corner is designed with so much eye for detail, it inspires you to be creative. They even put my little artwork on their wall. I only stayed for 4 nights, but wished I could stay way longer. Bonny & Austin are honestly the kindest people ever, also the manager is lovely! Bonny made me feel so at home and Austin makes the best coffees, you have to try the cappuccino with oatmilk! I love this place, it’s magical!

It’s situated perfectly. You have food around you, and you can enjoy a breathtaking sunrise within a 10 min walk walk. There’s a convenience right opposite of you (which we needed obvs)

GermanyRelaxed and easy-going place to stay at the main road in Dulan. The hostel and the village as well really has a backpacker vibe and in the end I extended my stay to relax a bit more. The upper floor terrace is a treasure with sea-view.

TaiwanI understand that the hostel is on the older end so there isn't much that can be done about that. When I was there it wasn't the busy season so that was a plus, but imagine it being a busy season, one bathroom on the floor that I was located at wouldn't be enough.
I liked the location and the friendliness and knowledge of the staff.

This is a hostel where you feel at home at the moment that you enter. The staff is very friendly, the first night they took me out to live music in the Sugar Factory. Also in the cafe / common area they have loads of nice books to read. If the weather would have been better when I was there, I’d stayed longer! Practical: you can do your laundry at the rooftop, also nice place to catch some morning sun. I stayed in the four bed female dorm, which is basic and small, but gives what you need to have.

TaiwanPillows are a little thick/large.
One of the best places for backpackers in Dulan. Right across from the 7/11. The back room on the 3rd floor is an especially good value, with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The owners were extremely friendly. They gave me some Chinese medicine when I was feeling sick and also found my watch that I left behind and mailed it to me. Would def recommend.

TaiwanIt’s a renovated old house, the toilet tube was a bit stuck but not affecting the function. And the room isn’t soundproof enough when staying inside the room.
There is a wonderful balcony with a hammock at 3rd floor facing the Pacific Ocean, I do love this place! The hosts are cute and helpful.
