Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We stayed in four different hotels during our trip to Taiwan, and in terms of comfort, guest-friendly design, and overall ergonomics—how every little detail is thought out and how the room itself is arranged—this hotel stood out. Everything is designed for convenience, making the stay exceptionally comfortable. It just feels... right. Plus, the location is great.

The room’a not big so not much place to move around.
Great location and great staff that were super friendly and went above and beyond. Great lobby area for chilling and waiting.

Cathy and the rest of the personnel at City Place, did everything they could to make us feel welcome and help us out. And always with a smile! City place is conveniently located and the rooms are nice. There is free coffee and tea in the reception. I highly recommend this hotel. Great value for the price.

Travelers who prefer softer mattresses (like my brother-in-law) may need a bit more padding, though I personally had no problems. Some rooms are a bit darker due to smaller windows and room layout, but this is expected in a central area of a dense city.
Very friendly and helpful multilingual staff who made sure we were well taken care of. They stored our luggage (early arrival) and encouraged us to take advantage of the guest lounge with coffee and tea even before our room was ready. While we didn't use the offer they also wanted to make sure we would be okay getting a taxi back to the train station. The room was thoughtfully laid out with all the lighting you needed (we had a hard time finding the switches at first, at least in our room many of them are in recesses above the bed). The location not far from the station and Chihkan Tower was really very convenient for reaching central Tainan's sights on foot. Travelers accustomed to using a room safe for laptops should note that the safe is probably too small for that, and rooms can get a little stuffy without a fan in humid weather (this is noticeable upon returning because electricity only works with a key card, but the AC is very efficient and solves it in just a few minutes).

Would be perfect if some baked goods are provided for breakfast. Our room has no window.
Clean, comfortable modern room, comfortable pillows and bed, very nice ambience and lighting, nice lounge with free coffee and drinks, nice amenities.

We asked how we could travel by city bus to Anping. Two ladies tried to find an answer. They came to the conclusion that we have to take a taxi. We walked to the railway station and found that bus nr. 2 goes to Anping and has a stop not too far from the hotel. I think that the staff should get some schooling to become familier with simple tourist questions and interests.
The location is ideal. We had a quiet and very comfortable room. Staff was very friendly

Though not located near any night market or shopping, it’s within walking distance to eateries & convenience stores.
Clean, fresh, bright & spacious room. Beds were comfortable with 2 pillows provided for each guests. Amenities were good. Staff were always smiling,warm, hospitable & helpful. Unlimited access to the coffee / hot drinks dispensing machine located on the 1st floor.
