Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsI didn't like to have to arrange all campsites in advance. I would have wanted more freedom, but seeing the limited number of campgrounds there is no other way. Do this a bit longer in advace! And don't forget the additional insurances. They cost me $ 170 for 6 days, so really expensive.
Christines help is great. Also regarding tips about what to see and do. The car has all the facilities you need. I travelled alone and then you don't save too much money. But when travelling with 2 or more carcamping is a way to make your stay much more affordable.

SwitzerlandPricing: contract said 100$/night whereas we paid 183$/night. Insurance: renter informed me only 6 days in advance that I have to provide collision damage and liability insurance which is an extra 30$/night No information about camp sites provided: with the thin blanket only sea level campings are possible and there are only few and for foreigners difficult to book and find.

GermanyScammer! Christine took the $500 deposit without any warning. She is definitely a fraudster. The car was falling apart and was nothing more than a wreck. Right before the trip begins, you're required to transfer a $500 deposit via PayPal. You’ll never see that money again! After returning the car to its location with the lock key, you receive a message claiming the deposit has been withheld because you supposedly drove routes you weren’t allowed to. This is a scheme she uses to keep the deposit. She then claims the car now needs to must be checked by a mechanic for damage assessment. If Christine had the chance, she would’ve tried to squeeze even more money out of us. Once you hold the contract in your hands, she informs you that you’re prohibited from driving on certain routes—which, by the way, include almost the entire island. She knows how run-down her cars are and that they’re incapable of handling most roads. :D The contract also states absurd penalties, like $300 if you return the car just 15 minutes late. 😁 Total scammer. Look for someone else to rent from, so you can actually enjoy the island and not be limited to 10% of it.
We didn’t like anything, truly nothing. With the car and the price you pay, it was impossible to enjoy the island.

United StatesScammers!! They have a lot of their own rules, which you know only in front of the car not when you book it. They charged 500$ for deposit and they don’t wanna give it back. “0” tolerance policy, how they said. No scratches, no damages, no tickets but they decided to keep all amount of deposit. Bad looking, bad maintenance vehicles but it has everything for camping, yes. Highly not recommend for everyone!

United StatesCampervan had bad/very weak electrical outlets and it wouldn't even charge the fan for the very hot nights. It also couldn't charge my phone, so I ended up having to stay at a hostel lobby to charge my phone before leaving for Hana. As a solo traveler, I was very nervous doing the drive and having no way to charge my phone was stressful!! Ended up having to stay in town that night since charging my phone took a while and missed a (paid) campsite reservation...came home only to find out the host kept my security deposit without any communication. After approaching her about it, she refused to give any leeway when it was due to her faulty campervan.
Vehicle described was not what I was expecting. It was a Honda Element and way smaller than the advertised campervan.

IrelandThe pick up/drop off point wasn’t very convenient - we had to take a $25 there and back Uber, but it was definitely doable.
It was nothing like staying a tent - the mattress was comfortable, pillows were provided and even hot nights were bearable with a little fan. My husband who is 6.3 was able to stretch fully. I was a little worried about the storage space, but there was enough room for a massive suitcase, 2 large and 1 medium backpacks and all different bits and pieces. Cooking equipment was excellent as we were able to cook dinner each night and start each day with a cook of coffee (French press provided). Sleeping in the car allowed us easy travels around the island, we checked out all camping spots (Hosmer grove was our fave). As Maui is ridiculously expensive, we saved so much money. The car was very reliable and took us through Road to Hana and extremely winding roads of Haleakala. Christine was a wonderful host and remained responsive throughout the entire stay.
