Certain staff seemed uninterested and verging on rude. Especially a female who was there both times we stayed. If you don't like people and will have a general rude disposition to everyone as default, then maybe this is not the right field for you.

We had a noisy neighbor, not really the hotel's fault but it was an adjoining room.

No breakfast, the fire alarms switched on for no clear reason. The bed sheet was torn.

Parking is not free, and perhaps because the hotel is old, the rooms were a bit small. Parking is available across the street from the hotel, and valet service is provided, which is quite convenient. However, the area in front of the hotel is very busy, making it a bit tricky to check in with a car initially.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Union Square. The room was small but fairly comfortable. While there was a refrigerator in the room, there was no coffee pot. However, the lobby offered complimentary coffee, a water station, and cookies, which was quite convenient. Although the hotel is old, it can be described as clean and well-maintained.

The bar closed earlier than expected.. I understand that the bartender wasn't feeling good. But could've had another staff member step in.

It was great place to stay. Loved the vintage feel and the service was great.

Two things I wish would improve are: 1. The fixed shower head was too low and every time I wanted to wash my hair I had bend over to do it. It would be great to ether elevate it a bit, or enable a portable shower head. 2. I was not aware at all that there is an offsite gym and I was missing it very much. Please make an effort to inform the customers about the existence of it.

I had a wonderful staying! The staff is friendly, the value for money is great and the cookies and apples are a sweet addition to the overall experience! The location is right at the Union square which makes it easy to get to most places around. BTW Many people warned me about the homeless situation and the overall city condition these days. As a tourist, the area of Union square, Fisherman wharf, and most of the areas I got felt safe, and pleasant. With that, the area between: Van ness - Turk - Market streets did felt unpleasant and you might want to avoid it at least nowadays

A privileged location just steps away from Union Square. The place was clean, cozy, and had friendly staff. There were complimentary beverage machines available. Our stay was very enjoyable.

It’s an old hotel so sound proofing isn’t great. The street noise was no problem but it was easy to hear people in the next door room through a connecting door. Not a major issue but use earplugs if a light sleeper.

Fabulous location so close to Union Square. Gorgeous soft, comfy beds. A lovely old hotel that exceeded my expections. Loved the free cookies and the helpful staff

This is the second time our family has stayed at The Chancellor. It’s not fancy, it’s a very charming and modest hotel but it has all the amenities we needed. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and accommodating. The price is very affordable compared to other hotels but you cannot beat the location, just steps from many restaurants and walking distance to Union Square.

Absolutely great location just off Union Square and walkable to other parts of the city, e.g. Coit Tower - or you can take the historic trams. I found this to be great value compared to other hotels nearby and I liked the historic character of the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and offered advice on what to see and do in the area. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. There was complementary tea and coffee provided in the lobby.

Good value for money. Nice staffs and coffee, tee and apples for free make it so welcoming. Only issue is that the rooms are not aircondirioned and I wonder how it can be in a hot summer to stay there.

I asked for a late check out today. But 2 or 3 times before we were scheduled to check out, someone kept knocking on the door! 1 hour before and 30 minutes before. We were up late the night before and wanted a nap before we headed to the airport. Do you all not pass the word to all the staff???
