Someone fell out of the window from the seventh floor and I’m not really sure why but it seemed like after paramedics came that they were safely taken to the hospital and were okay. This didn’t really affect our opinion of the hotel because the hotel and staff themselves were really great, but it made it uh…interesting experience.

The inside was nice and the bed was also very nice! Everything was clean and the free cookies tasted good. Lots of closet space.

The staff member who helped with our bags was quiet rude and not engaged which meant on our final day when we left bags at the hotel after check out we felt a bit uncomfortable about leaving them there.

The location was great, the town room was perfect for two.

Room little bit smaller than expected. Parking expensive and not at the property (1 block away). Other than that, everything was absolutely fine.

A classic in the heart of the city. Great staff, no exceptions: from A to Z, everyone were so kind and nice! location, right on Union Square. Super comfortable bed. Not a breakfast, but delicious cookies and tea by the morning at the bar area.

Bed was so soft that it was difficult to change positions. There was a lot of condensation on the window sill. It improved when l opened the window over night.

Excellent location - right in the middle of Union Square. Some lovely touches such as tea and coffee and muffins available 24 hrs a day. Very good value for money in this location.

Everything was really perfect. I'm not trying to fluff this review. All I know, is i entered the hotel 3 staff members were eager to help immediately. During my stay I needed the help of the front desk. They handled everything quickly AND with courtesy. So what can I say. It is what it is. This hotel deserves this review. Bottom line is, they earned it. Ohh.... ohh... I haven't even mentioned the room. Clean as a whistle. Spotless. Plenty of towels, which i love, and it was cleaned every day. Fresh towels. Fresh sheets. Bed made. Very few hotels do this nowadays. But the Chancellor Hotel does. I can go on but we'll leave it here. If you want an affordable yet beautiful hotel right at Union Square in the heart of San Francisco, book with confidence.

I couldn't believe how convenient the location was. Must importantly the price i paid was the best bargain I've had. First class hotel. I'll be back no doubt

Sadly two things can be true at the same time… whilst the location was great, the nearby protesters made it very hard to relax in peace. Difficult to fall asleep and / or annoying to be woken up by the thumping sounds of drums! I hope they’re gone soon because the hotel is brilliant.

Noise isolation in the room is not that good. Unfortunately there were some protests outside all day and all night which we could hear all the way to the room. However, the staff were nice and moved us to another room in another section of the hotel on the 2nd night.

Very close to the metro, transportation, restaurants and bars. Free cookies, tea and water at lobby, nice rooms. Friendly staff, was very helpful and assisted us in moving to another room due to an issue. Hotel staff made a nice gesture for our honeymoon which we liked a lot (thank you).

Location is just great, half a block from Union Square. Family owned business for over one hundred years.

The bar area is a little underwhelming but if expectations are managed it's fine. There is no coffee maker in the room, but there is one in the lobby. Again, once we understood that it was fine.

The location close to Union Square and several shops and restaurants is excellent. It is away from the more "challenging" areas of the city (South of Market) that we drove through on our way to the hotel. The room was small, but adequate, comfortable and very clean. Nice shower (water pressure.) The parking was very close by. The staff, from reception to the bartender to housekeeping, were very friendly (except one soft spoken receptionist upon check out). The value for the money is fantastic. We appreciated the 2 for 1 drink offer.
