Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe elevators were constantly in use by staff and being locked for customers. The three small elevators were not enough to accommodate the size of that hotel

United Kingdomconfirmation email stated that the rooftop bar was closed for renovation even though when we got there it was open. It looked very shabby so assuming that the works are about to start. We looked on the website in November and this also stated that it was closed due to renovations. We thought we would arrive to a new roof top.
Location was good not far to travel for subway etc. Room was comfortable and couln't hear other doors slamming all hours of the day and night like other hotels. There was a new nappy which was left by the previous occupant up high on a shelf which one glance would have spotted it even though it was high but this was very minor. Bed was comfortable

During our recent stay at the DoubleTree Hotel, we were fortunate to be assisted by Sonam, one of the bellmen. His friendly demeanor and helpful attitude made us feel right at home. Sonam went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, which played a significant role in our decision to extend our stay by an additional two days. His exceptional service truly enhanced our experience at the hotel.

Perfect location, nice staff, great breakfast. Rooms were nice sized, of course not spacious but what do you expect in NYC? We stayed in a double bed room with the 4 of us and it was perfectly doable.

United StatesThe elevator situation was horrible. Always full and we learned quickly that in the morning it was better to call one to go up and get in and then ride it until it eventually went down. It’s really too bad they couldn’t separate two of the elevators for the higher floors and two for the lower floors like they do in Vegas. Rooms were the typical New York tiny. If you’re sharing a room you literally have to plan how you’re going to move around the room!
Great location. Close to Times Square but not in the thick of it. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable. For the price it was good

New ZealandRoom was alot smaller than anticipated, had hardly no space to put my luggage, checking in was a disaster took hours to be checked in an was waiting around though a staff member gave complimentary drinks in the meantime, hotel seemed a little run down to be honest. Do not book the transfer from the hotel to the airport! Paid 65 USD for a van packed with other people, took nearly 2 hours to get to my terminal as they were dropping other people off first. considering I paid 65 USD for a private transfer from the airport to the hotel, this was a joke.
Staff were friendly and helpful when needed.

United StatesThe room was so tiny I didn’t have any place to put my suitcase. There wasn’t a spot available big enough on the floor. I put it on one side of my bed. Why would a room be this small?
Cleanliness and friendliness.

IrelandThe main selling point for me was the lovely outdoor rooftop bar but it looked abandoned when we checked it out… Maybe because it was the winter but didn’t look like the pictures and the room we got was tiny… also constant smell of weed but maybe that’s just NYC.
In a perfect location!

United StatesThe first night of arrival we had an issue with a delivery driver bringing us the wrong order. I kept showing him the order on my phone and he kept trying to pass off alcohol that was not ours. The driver was confused calling my phone while I was right next to him saying “but this is you”. Yes it is but I did not order beer and kept showing him my phone his name, my name, the address, and what we ordered. The man with the suit behind the desk on 3/7 said “Ain’t that you on the phone with him” in the rudest tone. I did feel like I snapped for a minute with my tone responding “yes but we did not order beer” and he said “oh”. It’s fine if hotel staff want to intervene but ask what’s going on and you’d think they’d have a better attitude towards the guest who are paying to stay here. I was shocked at how he yelled with his tone and a grown man talking to two young women that way was disgusting in any situation and he should’ve maintained his professionalism at work.

IrelandThe lifts were very slow and we were not able to check in until around half 4, but they gave us drink vouchers because of the delay.
The location was right off Time Square, a subway station on the corner, and we had amazing views of the city from our room. The rooms were a good size, I expected them to be a lot smaller. This hotel was one of the cheaper hotels and it exceeded my expectations.
