How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Elevator was very small. Had to take several trips to get all of luggage up, but it wasn’t too bad. Parking is a couple of blocks away
Good breakfast, rooms were nice! Staff was very friendly!

Breakfast is very basic. Would be nice to have some things that are not plastic. Cereals selection poor. As was the jam offerings. Waffle maker was good however. I’m sorry but coffee and tea ☕️ In plastic cups is really not a way to start the day. Nothing for gluten or dairy intolerant guests - other than a small orange or apple.
The location was relatively convenient to Market street - walkable with luggage. Some god value restaurants close by. Felt safe. Great beds. Appreciated the bath and shower option

The building could use a bit of updating and still keep the old character look. I would have liked to have a booklet in the room with services, transportation options, and info on San Francisco.
The staff was helpful, and the hotel is in a good area to walk to Union Square. Close to transportation, cable cars, bart, and street cars.

-Room is tiny , you can not even open luggage properly - breakfast is very simple
-price : was by far the best price we could get for a very central place - cleaniness is ok -but be careful which way you go, the nice parts of SF are directly around the corner on the one side but bad areas also very close - breakfast is available , but only very simple which is common for USA

The room to the street can be a bit noisy, especially during night. Breakfast okay for people who don't need any warm food.
No luxury but perfect location close to Union Square and Cable Cars. Friendly staff, sufficient breakfast. Good for a short stay, don't need a car. Room was absolutely okay, service every day.

Breakfast was not really as expected. Could have been some more to eat. Only baguels and marmelade. But it’s okay for a few days to stay.
Location is very close to union square. It was not loud. People were very friendly and helpful. I would stay at the same hotel next time again!

However, the windows are a little dangerous as they don't latch, I nearly fell out of the 4th floor window trying to close it! Not safe for young children.
It was great value for money, the breakfast was actually really nice, home made waffles, bagels and cereal choices, with yoghurt and fruit.

Breakfast! I thought i was late and other guests ate everything. But no, there were ony waffles for brekfast. And cereals... It looked like a joke...
Location - close to Union Square. Room was comfortable. Elevator was awesome!

Really Old hotel. Little investment like painting the walls in the room every quarter of century (25 years) could help a lot. Staff was there when I needed. Neighborhood is on edge. One street gets you to pandemonium of Zombieland other to down town.
First room was big but really run down. Toilet did not flush, walls was awful they offer me shared bath, but I insisted with room with separate bathroom. They gave me a bit better but smaller room later that evening. Had to wait for ~4 hours and i took a nap then move. Clean sheet and clean bathroom.

Although the street of the hotel was better than others, the area of the centre is really disturbing with lots and lots of homeless people. In general, San Francisco has a serious problem with drugs and people living in the streets. About the hotel: options per breakfast were reduced, but at least they offer some fruit and boiled eggs, in addition to coffee and other “not so healthy options”
Good value for money: hotel plus breakfast in the center of San Francisco for less than 80 euro per night. We were surprised because the bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet and clean.

Rooms didn't have a lot of closet or storage space, I lived out of my suitcase. The hotel wifi was extremely slow but worked.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently located, safe, and clean. It's an older building but suited my travel needs - I was in the city for a conference at the Hilton (2 minute walk from The Fitzgerald). Breakfast was solid and filling every morning - waffles were nice! Good value overall.

The area around the hotel is quite sketchy. This has nothing to do with the hotel per se but the area of SF in general. However, I noticed that other hotels prevented/controlled who could enter the facilities at night more tightly. I would have appreciated something similar to feel more safe. In addition, rooms will not be cleaned/towels changed throughout your stay.
The value for money in this hotel is great. When I compared offers, no other facility offered similar pricing with breakfast included. If you are traveling for holiday with two people or more, they are great. Breakfast options are also good, staff is very friendly and helpful.
