How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Our room was too cold. Temperature was locked at 67 degrees F. Maintenance adjusted it for us after our first night, however it still didn’t feel warm enough.

No microwave or fridge.A little difficult to get to parking garage.
Location great! The maid was great very helpful. Loved the old decor. The connoisseur was very helpful with directions.

Smell in the room and corridor.. Probably some form of disinfectant but really not very pleasant. Room very dark, windows but looked out onto a central maintenance area, not outside.
Clean, good sized room. Very comfortable bed.Price quite reasonable for central SF.

The location is very central and well connected, however there are many homeless people on the streets around the hotel, didn't feel very safe at night.
Nice hotel, they upgraded us to a bigger room with more space. Staff was friendly, they gave us a coupon for a discount for breakfast in the cafè at the corner.

bathroom wasn’t clean, had hair in some areas. also I had a special request which wasn’t considered and after check in had to ask to change the room which created hustle that could have been avoided. During the check in and on other occasions when asked for basic assistance the staff was very ‘unenthusiastic’ to say the least (3 of 4 staff members approached).
location was great and the voucher for breakfast diner was a nice to have thing

The corridors leading to the rooms are dated and have a fusty smell.

This was a great stay so not much negatives to say. I would inform those travelling that a few blocks south we would not recommend walking late at night as homelessness is very prevalent in San Francisco. We recommend getting ubers/taxis at night to and from your dinner reservations.
A lovely hotel right next to Union Square. We had a fantastic room with a balcony overlooking the city. It was our honeymoon and they left us a bottle of bubbly and glasses in the room which was a nice touch. The bed was huge, air conditioning worked well and great bathroom. We even made use of the small gym facilities - although it was very busy in the mornings. Overall, a good location to explore San Francisco for the first time. We LOVED walking over to Sears Fine food in the mornings for breakfast - so close and highly recommend their Swedish pancakes, fresh banana bread and corned beef hash.

Sadly the restaurant was closed as a result of covid. However, they did give us a voucher to use daily at the diner around the corner (which was nice).
The room was comfortable and plenty big enough with a large comfy bed and a fridge. Nice bathroom. Excellent location in San francisco handy for the cable cars, shopping, china town and much much more.

Room had an odd smell whenever we returned to it which required us to open the windows to get rid of. Slightly old fashioned design but not a problem. Glasses in the room were all plastic and wrapped in plastic - understand this is for Covid19 but totally unnecessary! No breakfast room - but we knew this when booking and plenty of great food options in the city.
Great location on Union Square which is super convenient for the cable cars and the BART. Decent sized room for San Francisco. Good gym and pool areas which are free to use. Free high speed wifi. Overall, good value for money - we would stay here again.

The condition of the shower is not something, especially the water flow is very weak.
Hotel inviting in a great location, very good maintenance condition and courteous and inviting service. The rooms are large and comfortable and so are the beds, there was no breakfast but there are several places for breakfast nearby. Definitely recommended

the fact that i have to pull all my luggage by my self, to my room and it was really hard because the carpets, i had to used a handicap elevator because this hotel have two different buildings and there there is not way to move luggage any other way. specifically requested a king bed room and they gave me a two queen bed , for no reason. the carpets look like they need a replacement.
the location is pretty convenient , close to public transportation and a lot of high end store if you are into that.
