Our first experience, on arriving at the hotel, was to be greeted by a member of staff, at the front desk, with the words "ID and credit card"! Not even a "Hello" or "Welcome to the Handlery". In addition to the unfriendly welcome, my credit card, which had been working fine since arriving in the US (and subsequently at other establishments) failed to authorise. The way I was treated by the member of staff felt belittling. On arriving in our room we discovered that some of the countertops in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. We certainly will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel.

Good location just off Union Square. Even though there is no restaurant at the hotel they have arranged a 20% discount on meals at an excellent diner (Masons) just around the corner.

We didn't like the stairs we had to use to get back to our room from the pool. Coming down the stairs wet with little grips on the tile made the stairs extremely slippery and my husband even fell down the stairs leaving the pool.

    Staff was super friendly

I was surprised that a daily deposit was required at check in even though I gave them my credit card info. I'm not really sure why this was required but I didn't let that interfere with my trip.

The location was fantastic. Right on the Muni bus line and Hop on Hop off tour bus stop is across the street. Also next to the Trolley route. Very short walking distance to any transportation. No steep hills to climb either.

Sliding glass door to balcony very hard to open. Also very long walk to Premier part of hotel plus the heavy glass door in hallway between pool and lobby made it hard to pass through with luggage. Suggest removing door. A better lift up to pool area would also help. Wish our parking was always free.

The tub was so small, the building was under construction, you could hear noise from outside and the rooms next door, parking was $62 per night and extra fees were a lot, the pool closed early at 8pm.

The room was a decent size. Location was easy to find

The bath was however very small and uncomfortable so I had to limit myself to showers. The big negative point was internet access as it was very slow and poor quality.

The bed was excellent and I got some good sleep. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly.

I've stayed here many times. Because it was a short overnight I got a queen room with no view. As soon as I entered the room the musky, almost moldy smell hit me. It was as though the room hadn't been aired out for months. I was too tired after traveling to move rooms but found it hard to breathe freely the entire time I was in the room. When I checked out I was faced with two flights of stairs to get to the parking garage. The elevator didn't work the first two times I tried so I didn't chance it. I'm not disabled but have mobility issues and this was quite challenging. Thankfully a nice worker came by and carried my bag up the stairs for me to make it easier. Sadly, I may have to stop staying at this property going forward.

The staff was very pleasant. The location and on site parking is perfect.
