Bit lacking in character. Not given advice on any parking alternatives to valet parking - in fact two alternatives within a block at half the price !

Great location. Good quality rooms. Lovely bar staff..and reception very helpful

Our stay was wonderful. The hotel was as described. Very comfortable and the friendliest staff! Loved the free cocktail too. The outdoor space was better than expected. Beautiful, spacious and relaxing. Would definitely return/recommend The Ryder.

We were on the fourth floor and it didn’t have a direct elevator to the fourth floor. So at times it was confusing to get your room. We would have to take the stairs to get your floor.

    Great location & charming hotel

Our room was pretty dark (not really any natural light at all) but luckily not a major issue since we didn't spend much time in the room. Also one of the days we were there, they were setting up for an event and therefore had to take all the pool area furniture away (which wasn't ideal given there was no notice of that happening).

The Ryder hotel was in a great location, super walkable to all main "attractions" of Charleston. Also loved renting the bikes and riding around the charming neighborhoods. The pool / bar area was really nice to, and we enjoyed getting a drink at the bar and lounging on the daybeds.

The staff was not knowledgeable to where our room was. We walked around for 20 minutes, looking for an elevator to the fourth floor. There was construction in the room right underneath us. We could not sleep when we wanted to take a rest during the day. The hotel was not full and they could’ve put us in a different room, I was disappointed with our room location

Good quality hotel, very trendy with great amenities however, almost zero wifi and no views from room.

Absolutely horrible wifi. Barely worked and could barely get onto internet/apps. Had some work to do and had to leave hotel. If going to the pool, you had to walk all around the building to access it when in reality, there was a door directly to the pool very close to the room. But since that door didn’t have a key pad it was always locked. Hotel should install and keypad door to make it convenient on guests. Also, there’s no view from most of the rooms, and the pool, restaurant and lounge is kinda loud until 10pm or so at night. There were also ants in my room.

Great location, friendly front staff. Was able to get early check in which was huge. Good quality hotel. Very trendy, hip design. King room is very spacious. Nice bar/restaurant and pool is a great feature. Go early to get your lounger. Love that you can sign out bikes, skate boards, coolers, beach chairs, etc. That’s a great amenity! Great coffee shop in front lobby. Also, in check in area, coffee/tea set up in the morning is nice and day of check in there is a free cocktail hour.

Pleasant enough, but would not return

The hotel is very hard to navigate. Some stairs were closed for maintenance (which I understand is necessary) but to get to and from our room was complicated. Because they block the pool area door, we are forced to use the elevator farthest from our room, or enter and exit through the dark, dirty parking garage. I would not trust my wife's safety alone down there.

Location is very centrally located and it's easy to get to many popular places in Charleston. The room was adequate, and on par with similarly priced hotels.

The only negative we experienced when we ordered a nice red wine to our room it came in plastic latte cups which was very strange. I did mention to reception on departure and they seemed quite shocked so doesn’t sound like that it’s a common problem.

VERY expensive. We were there for a conference (SEWE) and expected to pay but got nothing really worth the extras. and our room looked over the back alley garage. beware the taxes in Charleston are very extensive (already knew this) but on top of that and the $50/day parking fee was the $29/day fee to use their bikes/skateboards/towels etc. NOT applicable for us and not really appreciated. the restaurant was ok. too cold for the little pool. So it met our needs but in no way exceeded. Oh, and if you want a mini-fridge they don't keep them in the room. you have to ask.

the valet and front desk person were very welcoming. the hotel is a manageable size. they have coffee available in the morning and if you want something fancier they have an in-hotel coffee bar. They are close to a lot of the hot spots. very easy to walk everywhere (which is why we chose them). it was very quiet except the dumpster on Saturday a.m. (our room overlooked it) but VERY clean. and the room service was a pleasant surprise.
