Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaThe room was absolutely freezing. There was a window through the roof with some weird blocked windows looking down in our room. It was probably 55 degrees at most during the night. We talked to reception, they said they fixed it but it was still super cold. Slept with a lot of clothes on and their light blankets but still cold. The area was very close to Bed-Stuy, specifically Marcy Houses (where Jay-Z is from) a few blocks away. Read recently that it was the 2nd most dangerous area in the United States. The hostel is right next to some projects too, across the streets, which also appeared as a gang area, but we didn't have any problems. Felt very safe, actually, even though it's kind of a rough area. The location wasn't ideal, although I've been meaning to stay in Brooklyn for a while. It's kind of hard to reach as you have to take the L train (5-15 minute walk from hostel depending on which station you choose and how fast you walk) but there's always something wrong with the L train (which you'll take into manhattan and then take another to wherever you're going) so it can take quite a while to get there (30 minutes on average but it adds up).
There were five of us, booked a 5-person room and we were able to stay together. The room was very big, with interesting drawings on the walls (the artsy kind - not scribbles). Had lockers, good enough for our purposes but probably won't fit a large suitcase - maybe a very tight fit. No locks, brought my own. Nice area on the edge of Williamsburg. Also some negatives about this in the next section. The staff was ok. There are some common areas and an outdoor area. There is complimentary coffee which I thought was really cool - nothing fancy but it's free coffee, so it's perfect. Free parking.

CanadaWifi sucked, and many rooms would be difficult to access if you have mobility issues, even though there is an elevator. You need to climb stairs to reach the front desk.
Rooms, beds, location has a way better nightlife than Manhattan, which is surprising.

SpainThere's not much of a social vibe. There's no activities being organized either.
Very clean and spacious hostel. There's some double beds in the dorms. Free coffee and tea is great. A lot of common rooms with board games, books, pool. Location is well connected to the subway and feels like an authentic, upcoming area of Brooklyn.

SloveniaThe hostel is not great for socializing because the guests there don't really hang out in the common areas. The staff also don't encourage getting to know the guests and the vibe in the hostel is a bit cold and impersonal.
I checked in late in the evening (just a bit before midnight) and it was nice that the staff were still at the desk. It was also easy enough to find my room and the beds were comfy. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and there was a private bathroom for the dorm.

Czech RepublicUnfortunately, I have to admit that the surroundings, especially after the exit from suway, did not look very flattering and safe, which the hostel has nothing to do with it, that's just NY. The only thing that could be improved would be the door to the bathroom, it was very difficult to open and close, it had to be raised and made a terrible noise, otherwise maximum satisfaction.
The hostel is surrounded by at least two metro stops J and L, which are within a maximum of 10-15 minutes' walk. As soon as I checked in, I was offered a single bed in the girl's room, which was a nice surprise, and leaving my luggage for free until the evening after check out was great, nice and helpful staff and nice graffiti on the wall. in the room.
