Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsRoom did not look like the picture, breakfast was very busy and massive and you eat from plastic / carton plates and plastic cutlery that afterwards everyone throws in the bin. Coffee not okay.
Good location and some nice shops and restaurants in the area. Very close to Penn station and Madison Square Garden. High line access around the corner.

United KingdomCan be noisy at night from the road. Breakfast is limited with the only healthy option a banana and orange. Cleaners slammed doors in the morning so always woke before 7am. Probably okay if you aren’t opposite the cleaning cupboard. Breakfast is very very busy and you eat off paper plates and plastic forks
Great location. 7 minutes from Times Square and right beside madison square gardens. Staff are very friendly. Rooms clean and tidy. Close to the subway

NorwayI left some clothes outside my friends room at 8am when I went to the gym and at 9am when I came back they had disappeared. The hotel gave me 2 free drinks but I disappointed because I didn’t expect a guest or an employee to steal 2 shirts and pants from the hallway. The hotel did not offer me to check the security cameras and just recommended that I don’t leave clothes outside the room anymore. Also like I mentioned, breakfast was great but… healthier options and more variety were needed after a week long stay.
The comfy bed, the room is spacious, has everything you need including a desk and a couch. The buffet breakfast is generous although after some days can get repetitive. For fruit there were only bananas or tangerines, every day, and for protein eggs and sausage and no ham or cheese. Actually the breakfast products were quite industrial, almost no whole foods. I liked the oatmeal table though.

GermanyI miss (but nearly in all Hotels in the USA) a shower Head, you can hold in your hand. Also it is sad, that you have oneway dishes at the breakfast. For our Environment reuseable dishes, would be better! The quality of breakfast could be better, you Are getting Full, that‘s it

Bosnia and Herzegovina1. The bathroom door. Can't believe in a 4-star hotel with such a great room and everything, they have a sliding door for the bathroom with at least one inch of gap through which you could normally see everything inside, let alone hear every sound. That gap on all sides was so big you could pass items through it. Zero privacy and comfort in the bathroom. I'm not sure how two colleagues or friends would share that room. You need to be really comfortable with the person sharing a room with, and even then, you have no privacy at all. 2. The elevators. There are only two elevators for SpringHill, and they are crowded. One time, we needed more time to get to the lobby from our room than we needed to go to the Times Square from the lobby. But this was not such a big deal since you just needed to be careful when to use the elevators, and we learned that the second day. Just choose a better time to get out of the room... 3. This is also not a big deal, but I feel the need to write it here so others could know and decide their stay, but since the breakfast room is shared by both SpringHill and Fairfield, it is crowded very often. Sometimes, there are no free seats, even in the lobby. But we learned the times when there was less crowd, and we successfully avoided it (there is even a guideline posted by the hotel when to expect crowds)
The room was very clean, the staff was great and friendly. The location is incredible, a few minutes to Penn station, 10 minutes to Times Square, and so on. Breakfast was good, and it was refilled frequently. The room size was acceptable. We had a refrigerator, microwave, ironing kit, digital safe, coffee maker, big TV...
