Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe duvets were single, so my partner and I had one each which was a bit unusual, but overall not a real negative as it meant we didn’t fight over the covers!
Fantastic location, was within walking distance to most of the main sights and lots of restaurants. The bed was super comfortable with great black-out curtains which made for a fab sleep. Really lovely that you get a free drink each during your stay, and the water in the room is replenished. Honestly couldn’t fault it, one of the best hotel stays I’ve had in the US! Will definitely be back

United StatesThe comforter is nice, but we had to ask for a regular sheet (happily provided) because one of us doesn't like the weight of comforters/blankets
Had a room with handicap accessible bathroom--views less than great, but room was fine. Next to work out room so once got noisy very early--but was kids bouncing the balls.

United StatesNothing. Everything was great!
I stayed here with my teenager. We really liked the cool building it was in, the awesome location, and the hospitality. They provided unlimited water, which was great for walking around downtown. The bed was very comfortable, too. We really enjoyed our stay!

United StatesNothing! It was a perfect stay!
Absolutely beautiful, historic hotel with modern amenities. Location was perfect - easy walk to food, museum, park, waterfront, etc. Every single interaction I had with staff was authentic, warm and helpful. First time in Chicago and I was there for a quick solo overnight and it was a truly perfect experience. Bed was sublime too - pretty sure I woke up in the exact same position I was in when I fell asleep…

United StatesThe door to the bedroom wouldn’t close because the bed was too big. Not the end of the world but I did book the suite to have the separate bedroom. Parking was expensive but there are much cheaper overnight options with one or two blocks

United StatesMy only complaint was my phone going off at 7am with reminder texts (5 of them for one message) on checking out at noon. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fall back asleep and it was my only morning to sleep in.
Loved the history of staying in a historic hotel, where new meets old. Breakfast and appetizers at the bar were delicious. Received a free drink coaster and used at the bar. We were celebrating our anniversary and they put us in a great room with a view, a bottle of prosecco, truffle chocolates and a lovely note. A nice surprise to make our anniversary special.

CanadaIf they open the restaurant a little bit late
The bed is comfortable, the location is perfect but the restaurant close at 9:30. we were hungry . You need to eat at different restaurant and walk two to three blocks for food. The parking is 75.00 for overnight stay and way expensive. I left my shoes and helpful to send the shoes to my address. I hope they get the right address to send it to me.

United StatesThe guest room doors need an inside slide chain or bolt of some kind. Someone knocked on our door at 4 am and we surely wished we had an interior lock of some kind when that happened! The bath but and shower head could use updating.
This hotel is in the PERFECT location for shopping, dining, eating, and wandering downtown Chicago!! The lobby and restaurant (The Atwood) area is beautiful- bright with nice furnishings. Love the old tile and wrought iron work in the elevator area! Free water dispenser with ice (and pineapple slices!) in lobby, but also you can get free water bottles at any time (we had some delivered to our room, and anytime we ventured out into the hot weater we got a couple). Each guest over 21 gets a free drink at the bar upon arrival (beer, house wine, or soda), which is a nice touch. The room was a good size for downtown hotels with space for a tufted bench by the windows. The king size bed came with 2 "European" duvets, one for each guest, that were SO COMFORTABLE; like sleeping in a cloud! The bath toiletries were Tommy Bahama and smelled delicious! The "pineapple touches" in the rooms are adorable-- mugs, robes, even the toilet paper was wrapped up to look like a pineapple! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Chicago!!
