Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyNothing really, was just hoping there was something more to do in the area on a "walking distance", but that also came from me not knowing San Diego yet.
The staff is really friendly and helpful, the studio is spacious and we enjoyed eating on the balcony with a nice view on the park. It is possible to park on the streets adjoining the studio, or you can decide to use their parking place. It is true that the planes fly right above, but it was not disturbing for us, and they provided ear plugs in case you need them.

United StatesParking can be difficult. Rare free spaces - meters or a garage. The bed was really firm. I'm sure some people would like that, but it was too much for us.
Location was great. Right next to Balboa Park and an hour walk to Little Italy or Gaslamp. Check in and check out were a breeze. Management is easy to work with.

United StatesAs mentioned, the manager indicated we could check-in one hour earlier, but the apartment was not ready. It's on the path of the airport, so prepare to hear the roar of planes flying low. Pro: the sliding balcony windows are solid to block sounds, and a good pair of noise canceling headphones work just fine. I didn't lose sleep over this. Some guests don't abide by the rules, so there was a day we woke up at 7 am to the sound of loud music. We didn't complain, just seemed disrespectful of the guest who didn't care. Not the property's fault, though.
Location was accessible and central to downtown SD. The place was similar to a private Airbnb; everyone kept to themselves unless you needed something. The balcony was very large and overlooked Balboa Park, which was a plus. The apartment was clean; although since the housekeeper had to rush to clean it bc we cheched in early ( check-in time of 3 pm-but when we talked to the property manager he mentioned we could check-in at 2), I noticed the floors were not cleaned properly. It didn't bother me much, but it is worth mentioning since it felt our apartment was the last one to be cleaned that afternoon even though we had already dropped off our luggage prior to checking in.

United KingdomThe parking was unnecessarily difficult in my opinion. Only the day of arrival I was told it'd be $30 a night to park in the car park. As I was on a tight budget I asked staff who were super helpful directing me to a free space near the apartment. However, I then got a parking ticket. So really quite stressful in the end. Small thing but the walls and ceiling are incredibly thin, you can hear everything happening in the flats around you. Also you're right under a flight path, but you are given earplugs.
The location and facilities were great. Really comfy little self contained flat and super close to the centre of the city. Also right next to Balboa park which has multiple museums, art galleries and of course the zoo (although I would recommend driving as the parking is easy and you'll do a lot of walking inside the zoo).

United StatesIt's perfect. Very clean and nice. Before leaving I had read reviews and was worried about airplane noise. I have to say they are impressive, they fly so low, that my children were very excited, it was like fun. And when you close the balcony door you magically hear nothing. People who complained about noise slept with the door open. If you're wondering like me looking at the images where all the other beds are, I'll tell you, the sofa becomes a full twin, a bed that is Queen size, from underneath which another twin size opens up. Then it was equipped with everything; towels, soaps, brushes and toothpaste. Like in a hotel. We loved the balcony. My kids want to come back to San Diego and they want to come back to this very studio. I think it's worth it.

United StatesHere are the reasons for my dissatisfaction that I would like to emphasize: First: The hotel's advertisement is misleading. On Booking.com, it clearly states that the room size is 30 square meters, described in words. However, the actual size is less than 20 square meters. The hotel manager's explanation was that their rooms match the pictures in the booking, which is ridiculous because the photos do not indicate the room size at all. Second: The hotel manager changed the room entry code, causing me to be unable to enter the room on the first day. When I confronted him on the second day, his explanation was that he thought I was no longer staying there, so he changed the code. This reasoning is extremely shameless. Any normal person would not give such an excuse. Since the hotel did not allow me to cancel the reservation or provide a refund, why wouldn’t I stay there? Who in their right mind would pay for three days and not stay? The key point is: I never mentioned wanting to check out, nor did I go through any checkout procedures, and my booking status on Booking.com remained normal. Since the booking status was normal, what right did the hotel manager have to change my entry code? More seriously, after the code was changed, I was unable to contact the hotel manager or any other staff. It wasn't until the next morning that I was given the new code to enter the room. Despite this serious issue, the hotel manager never admitted any fault. I complained to Booking.com, but after their communication with the hotel, I received no apology or compensation. The cost of rebooking a hotel due to this incident exceeded $1000, which is much more expensive than booking in advance. In decades of travel, having stayed at hundreds of hotels, I have never had a worse experience. I hope other travelers can avoid such a terrible experience.
This is the worst hotel I have ever seen, no exception. Please read through it patiently; it might be helpful for you. I booked three days on Booking.com and paid for all three days in advance. The plan was for five people to stay. When I booked, it showed that the room could accommodate five people. The room had a single bed, a sofa bed, and a large bed. 1. When I booked, it showed the room size as 30 square meters, but in reality, it was not even 20 square meters. I have attached photos I took. 2. After checking in, seeing how small the room was, I expressed my dissatisfaction to the hotel manager and asked for a refund (my English is poor, so I used Google Translate to communicate with the manager). He told me that the room was the same as in the pictures and, since they were the same, they could not refund. I asked if they could just deduct the first day's room fee and refund the remaining two days. He said no. Then I asked if we could get a refund for the last two days if we didn't stay at all. He again said no. I ended the discussion and booked a room at a Best Western hotel, sending three people there. When I returned to this hotel, I found that the room access code had been changed, and I couldn't get into the room. I went to the hotel office, but no one was there. I called customer service, but no one answered. I sent messages to customer service, but there was no response. So, on the first day, I couldn't get into the room and had to book another hotel room. 3. The next morning, I found the room manager and asked why he had changed my room access code. He said he thought I wasn't staying there anymore, so he changed the code. I expressed my extreme dissatisfaction and got a new access code, staying there on the second and third days.

AustraliaWe had a wonderful stay! The staff were so nice and helpful - they were available during their office hours and were always happy to help or answer questions. We arrived early (around midday) and were able to get our room immediately. There was a washing machine and dryer near the office - staff provided detergent and change from dollar notes for the machine. The staff offer to store luggage securely in their office before check-in and after check-out. I mistakenly forgot an item of luggage at the property and messaged staff - they were able to ship the parcel to me the next day!!! The room was spotless and spacious, with a lovely couch and balcony overlooking the park. Fridge, sink, microwave, plates and cutlery in the cupboard provided. Location was also wonderful, right opposite an entrance to Balboa park (zoo, museums etc), cafes and restaurants nearby, and a short ride to Little Italy and Gaslamp district. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
