Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenThere were some insects in my dorm, but they upgraded me to a private room for free, where there was no problem.
Beautiful location 20 minutes away from the city. The family is lovely, with a daughter who loves to play and two cute dogs. They cook amazing vegetarian/vegan food as well, both in the homestay and in their restaurant in the city (Sapa Classic Vegan). The private room had a comfortable bed and a good shower, and the landscape is beautiful.

ItalyFor both breakfasts I had there I asked for plain rice and stir fried mixed vegetables and tofu but as veggies always came mushrooms and onions.
On the hills and sorrounded by rice fields and other crops, nearby treks and mini settlements, without any other tourists around like me, no guests, spacious, clean, friendly staff, good size portions of plain rice and tofu plus "veggies", free water refill cool temperature. WiFi available but only at the restaurant.

FranceThe place is outside the city, in the middle of rice fields. Some short walk brings you in the terraces. It is not a touristic zone, so it is very peaceful and the view is beautiful. The owners are real nice and will help for anything. The room and the bed are confortable.

FranceNothing. It has been a pleasure.
The location is about 6 kms from Sapa but it’s worth the trip , easily done by scooter. The bungalows are big, so nice, in a flowered garden, the rice fields around. The family is great, welcoming and joyful. The food is delicious and plentiful, homemade. The host suggested 2 hikes in the mountains that we could do on our own: 2 great hikes, on top of the rice fields, with some buffaloes around.. Don’t miss it! Even the dog and the cat are welcoming and sweet, like their little girl! Thank you for the ginger drink!

ItalyAway from the chaos of sapa town, super friendly English speaking owner, beautiful garden, super friendly dog and cat, delicious veggie and vegan food! Also if you stay make sure to get a guided tour through the rice fields. We had sung as our guide and she was so amazing! Explaining everything about local life!

United KingdomI can't say a single bad thing about our stay. It was truly memorable!
From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home and part of the family. We were greeted with a huge smile and a cold beer. The garden and the buildings are so beautiful and you can feel Chung's personal touch in every corner and feature. His music selection and even better vegan cooking made for two wonderful evenings away from the tourist targeted Sa Pa and Ta Van. He arranged a trek for us through the surrounding hills and to a large cave which we highly recommend. My bag had started to tear after a few days of travelling so Chung borrowed a needle and some hemp string and he and his mother carefully stitched it back together for me. We were bowled over by their generosity! Chung arranged a taxi for us back to the bus station in the evening and helped carry our bags down to the road. This place is an absolute must visit for anyone wanting to stay in nature outside of Sa Pa!

We had a wonderful time at this idyllic homestay. We stayed in the bungalow. It was clean, the area is stunning, and the bed is very comfortable. Couldn’t have asked for better. The family is very accommodating and inviting, including the cute cat and dog. The food is also superb - highly recommend the “ribs” in tomato sauce. Highly recommend - we had a fantastic two days and wish we could have stayed longer.

GermanyA truly unique and very authentic place. The family first greeted us with an extra-lit campfire. The place has belonged to the owner's family for years and was converted into a homestay just a few years ago. The family is very welcoming and offers a fully vegan menu with delicious H'mong food and homemade meat alternatives. If you want something special, it's best to let them know a little in advance, as some of the ingredients are sourced externally and the food is freshly prepared. The rooms are very clean and have a good indoor climate thanks to the natural clay construction. When it gets colder there is a radiator, shower was good and the water hot. The bed was very comfortable, so far the best in Vietnam. In good weather, there are hiking trails through villages and rice fields right next to the homestay, which were very nice. But you can also easily spend longer in the garden with various small paths, countless seating options, wonderful views and lots of plants to discover. If you are looking for an authentic, natural and beautiful experience, this is the place for you. It feels like a journey back in time.

RomaniaI didn't know how to adjust the water heater and I kinda had a luck warm shower. Normally it's not a problem during summer, but in winter it's preferable to have it hot.
It's a nice garden with little private houses. The house with the dorm is across the little alley. If you're 2, I would definitely recommend the private room/house. I was there during Tet, so I was alone in the dorm. Dinner was great with many vegetables.
