We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Italy-
I arrived late because my bus was delayed, and I also had to leave very early the morning after, before breakfast time. Despite this, they saved some food for me for my late dinner and prepared breakfast earlier. The homestay was lovely, the sheets in the room smelled great, there were a bunch of pets.. I could go on and on. If you're unsure where to stay in Ha Giang, go here.

United StatesWe really liked everything. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
The family is extremely welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and a real variety of very well prepared meals. You are 1km from the bus station but feel as if you are in the country. This is an exceptionally good choice. I would highly recommend.

I had one of my best travel experiences in Vietnam, thanks to the incredible hospitality of this homestay family! From the moment I booked, communication was seamless, ensuring all my arrangements were clear and stress-free. Despite my late arrival at 3:00 AM, the husband went above and beyond by personally picking me up, which immediately made me feel welcomed. The homestay itself was basic but more than sufficient for my needs—clean, cozy, and with spotless bathroom facilities. The next morning, the family extended their kindness further by inviting me to join them for a local breakfast and a visit to the vibrant Hmong market. It was a genuine cultural experience that I’ll never forget. I had pre-booked a 3D2N Ha Giang Loop trip through the homestay, and it was a fantastic journey! My easyrider was incredibly experienced, guiding me through breathtaking landscapes and ensuring I felt safe and comfortable throughout. To top it all off, when it was time to leave, the husband dropped me off at the bus departure point and even called the van company to confirm my pickup. Such thoughtful gestures made my experience truly outstanding. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll feel like part of the family and want to explore Ha Giang with seasoned locals, I highly recommend this homestay. It’s a perfect blend of warm hospitality and unforgettable adventure!

CanadaI loved my stay. I had a bungalow which had all the essentials: a comfortable bed, a private washroom, a very good shower and a wonderful balcony. Mornings were so peaceful. It is a couple of kilometres from town and it is an easy walk. The owner is very generous offering rides. She dropped me off and offered to pick me back up. The owners are wonderful. Even though the low cost only included the room and breakfast, they also fed me supper for free for all three nights I was there. They have two very nice daughters, a playful dog and a few cats. To me, this was paradise. I used their service to book a four day tour of the Ha Giang loop. They provided a driver/guide, a nice car, all accommodations (private rooms) and meals. The driver, Dich, was excellent, very professional and very kind. They also booked the bus to and from Hanoi for me. I highly recommend this homestay and its travel services. The loop itself is spectacular and not to be missed.

Very welcoming hosting family, from the daughters to the grandma! The family dinner was always very tasty, we stayed a total of 3 nights there and always had delicious food. The small rooms are enough for a good sleep and the mattress was among the most comfortable we slept on in Vietnam, We also rent bikes from them to do the Ha Giang loop and she organised our bus towards Cao Bang.

ItalyA beautiful bamboo house nestled in a peaceful and restored place. The owner welcomed us with great enthusiasm at 4:30am and organised a 2-day tour of the Ha Giang Loop for us. The guides were super friendly and took us to the best viewpoints and tasting the great local food, making the experience unforgettable. On our return from the tour, we were greeted with the same warmth and enthusiasm. The owner and her husband took care of us to the end of our stay, even helping us get to the bus stop in time. Thre room was spacious, bright and mainly made in bambù.

We loved the friendliness of the hosts Chang and Hiam. They really made sure we had a great time especially on our motorcycle loop tour which was a private ride and only 2 days because that’s all we had time for in our itinerary. Even though normally this tour is done in 3-4 days, they made sure that we were able to do it completely. It was the best adventure we’ve ever done in all of our travels and that was made possible by our lovely hosts. The drivers were really safe and good drivers even when we had to go a bit faster. Hiam also cooked us dinners two night and Chang brought us back local beer. The even had nice cats and an adorablely sweet puppy Our family is half Vietnamese and our mom chatted away with the hosts and they would switch between Vietnamese and English. They’re the friendliest people we’ve met so far, we’ll definitely be back when we come to Ha Giang!!

United KingdomEverything about this stay was amazing. The hosts are some of the nicest people we have met in Vietnam. They were so friendly and helpful and fun. They also provided a tour of the loop which was just the two of us. They were brilliant guides making sure we saw all the best views and while managing to dodge the big groups and crowds along the way. Their service of our whole stay was amazing and they made our stay with them one of our highlights of Vietnam. We highly recommend this homestay!!

Even though it was raining heavily we had great time. Hiem took really great care of us. Cooked really nice homemade food, offered a laundry service, booked our loop and the bus. SpainWe took the car tour and it was a little just in size for us. The road was bad in some parts because of the recent storms and we had to get out in some parts to walk as the car passed over the rough terrain. It was not a negative experience as it was all part of the adventure but maybe some people may not like this. The driver was a really cool guy and we enjoyed his company. It was actually nice to get out and have an adventure
Very nice helpful people. Made sure our trip went smoothly. The guided tour was really good. The guide is well known in the places where we stayed and we felt as if we integrated a lot more because of this. His friends were very nice with us. Not your typical tourist tour . For the more adventurous. He even caught a snake and cooked it for us .

The hosts are very friendly and open, we have been organised with the transfer from bus station by hosts. They offered and brought a new bike for rent and gave lots of advices around ha giang loop travel. The wife Hiam cooked a very delicious dinner with vegetarian options. The location is lovely, very quiet, surrounded by mountains near to the pond with fish. Breakfast was simple but sufficient.

United StatesI was completely satisfied with my experience at Homestay field!
When you stay at Homestay field, you are part of the family! They will do everything they can to accommodate you and make you comfortable. The location is very close to town and they have bicycles on site that you can use to bike around. Tao made delicious family style meals for everyone each night that I stayed there. I used their tour company to see the Ha Giang loop by car. They took me to many places where there were no tourists. I was comfortable and dry during the heavy rain. I was in charge of the radio the entire tour. I was alone with the driver and the guide. I never had to wait for 10 motorcycles to gas up or 30 people to get their photo op. It was a seriously authentic experience away from other tourists. We stayed at other Homestays on the tour that were quiet and serene with amazing views! They know the area so well and were able to show me the hidden gems! They took endless photos of me. I was able to choose how long I stay at each location. I was also able to stop for the bathroom anytime I needed. The whole family is so kind and welcoming that they really make your time there special. They even offered laundry services so you can have your clothes cleaned while you are on the tour. On Saturday morning they took me to the very local market me and the other two guests were the only foreigners at the market. They treated us too many special northern Vietnamese foods at the market.. It was a beautiful experience! I cannot wait to go back and spend more time at their beautiful property that is covered in blooming gardens. You will love this place too!
