Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The location was a little confusing initially, but once we were there it was a good place to walk around town from.
Enjoyed the good air conditioning and the comfortable bed.The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was tasty and it was nice to be able to eat before heading out exploring the city.

You have to know that it’s so close to the walking street so you can clearly hear music until 4am. The room is relatively sound proof so it’s cuts out a lot of the noise (outside it’s like a nightclub - full volume). We slept with the airconditioner on to block out some of the noise. The rooster started crowing shortly after the music stopped. This is not the fault of the hostel, so not a criticism but a note to future guests. Light sleepers would probably have an issue here, we didn’t mind so much. The only other thing was the shower head was old and squirted water in all directions so I accidentally watered the toilet and the ceiling a little bit. Not a big deal but might need looking at.
The staff were beautiful, especially Moon who was so delightful and kind. She showed my husband how to make their coffee for breakfast. The room is lovely, bed is super comfortable and the lift is quick and easy (we were on the 4th floor). They provided us with lots of drinking water and the breakfast was delicious.

The location is central which is great, but does mean noisier nights on the weekend. With that said, the room is pretty well noise-isolated and we had no issues sleeping on a Saturday night, especially with the provided ear plugs.
Moon - the staff member - was amazing! She gave great HCMC recommendations, and was so helpful in every way… always with the best smile on her face! Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

It is a bit noisy because it’s so close to the party street, that was not a problem for us but you can ear some noise in the night, but I doubt there is a quiet place in this city.
Very friendly staff and very well located Hostel. Everything we could desire when we arrived to Vietnam. The breakfast was also really good

The breakfast was wonderful, fruit plates in room on arrival, very helpful and friendly staff (Moon was a star!), beds were comfy, location was good, and the little balconies outside the rooms were nice.

While the room was generally comfortable, the windows allowed quite a bit of noise to come through, which made it difficult to sleep at times. Additionally, the glass door to the room was made of a fogged glass which let in light from the hallways, making the room brighter than expected.
The location was perfect, and the room was spotless with a very comfortable bed. The service was exceptional—Moon & Hang both went above and beyond to assist us. They helped us book our tour and even provided a list of great food and coffee recommendations, which we thoroughly enjoyed trying. Highly recommend this place!

very nice hostel, with very good organization and clean, the breakfast is good and it has variety. The staff is unbelievably cozy, and very friendly, specially Moon she's a great host and definitely makes you feel welcomed.

It was fun staying at the hostel. Moon is a 1000/10. When I checked in, she prepared food for me and showed me around. She also recommended to me a beauty salon and helped me with laundry. When it was hit, she was already waiting with cold water. Room is also comfy. I didn’t really hear the noise from the walking street.

prices of excursions & organized tours are more expensive.
Very well located in the city center of Ho Chi Minh City, Jan hostel is the perfect place to stay. Staff is really nice and very helpful. Breakfast is very good & rooms are nice. Good value for money, I recommend.

This place is the best! The hosts Moon and Mean are amazing. I lost my phone on the taxi drive there and Moon immediately did everything she could to help me. She even borrowed me some money to get back to the airport to retrieve my phone! The rooms are great for the price, with the best beds I've had in Vietnam. Nice and soft, just like my bed at home. It's in a great location and the hosts are more than happy to help you and give you advice on the best places to visit and how to get there. All in all a great place to stay, but the hosts make it an amazing stay!

The rooms can get pretty warm if the aircon isn’t left on while you are out for the day.
A really great hostel with clean and comfortable rooms. By far the best thing about this hostel are the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure you feel comfortable and welcome. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and really make the stay super pleasant! The breakfast is also delicious!

The water drain was a bit clogged
The owners of the hostel are extremely warm and kind people. We were welcomed with a fruit platter, they helped us with the luggage and every question we had. Great value for money, the room was simple but had everything we needed. Good breakfast with many options. Thank you for your kindness!

Clean, central and the staff are super friendly! I’m in my 50s solo traveller (whilst hubby is home :-)). For the price point it’s way better than expected, don’t be scared of the lane way it’s a great experience.

The staff were so kind and helpful, making recommendations, flexibly accommodating our 2:30am checkin and preparing a takeaway breakfast for us when we had to leave early for a day trip. The room is a little noisy from the street in the mornings with vendors etc but it’s not the hostel’s fault - and it’s nice to be up in the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City life!

I would suggest a blackout curtain for the entrance door as it lets a lot of light in. It could cause some annoyance to some guests
