Lovely people, great place and the breakfast probably the best I’ve had in a hostel thus far. I do recommend the Day Cruise that The One organises. Thanks a lot!

I tried to started the check in 5 minutes before to avoid line, the receptionist said I need to wait until 2pm. At 2pm we waited for almost 30 minutes to check in. Everything was just slow. They want to keep your passport in case you want to pay at the checkout, 11 months traveling in Asia, first time this happened, so we paid everything in the check in. When we arrived in the room, the room wasn’t ready, also was the wrong room. We booked the twin room with windows and we got a room with NO windows. After complaining, everything was sorted out. They told me they have two types of twin rooms (one with windows and another without), but they use the nicer one (with windows) to advertise on booking…so they definitely should update this information. The breakfast was ok, but NO coffee. They charge 30k for a small coffee, which is unbelievable. The bed was really comfortable and they have nice common areas.

I only stayed one night at The One Hostel in Cat ba, but I wish I could have stayed longer! This place is truly special—an amazing atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff, and so many activities to enjoy. From yoga sessions and evening quizzes to getaway dinners, billiards, and endless games, there’s never a dull moment. One of the best things about this hostel is how easy it is to book trips, buses, and activities right at the front desk—all at reasonable prices and with incredibly helpful staff who make everything smooth and hassle-free. The breakfast was great, and the overall vibe of the place is just perfect for meeting like-minded travelers. It’s so easy to connect with people here, and that makes the experience even better. If you’re ever in Cat ba, don’t miss the chance to stay at The One Hostel! I’ll definitely be back for a longer stay next time.

Good spot, very friendly and helpful staff, clean bathrooms, extra laundry service and motorbike rental options. Nice brekky included! They organise trivia quizzes and have games/art supplies for people to socialise - awesome effort!

The only small small thing would be the yoga in the morning. It was difficult to sign up for and then when we came down we couldn’t do it because there weren’t enough people. A better sign up system would be amazing. Other than that - fabulous!

We had such an amazing stay here! We loved every moment. The activities were so much fun, the staff were so lovely and couldn’t help us enough. We booked a boat trip through the hostel and it did not disappoint - such amazing value for money. The facilities were great, the room was clean and had the most comfy duvets and pillows (best sleep ever!) it’s the best place to socialise and make friends - We met friends here that we’ll have for life. But also have a great night sleep. 10/10 - we’ll be back!

The bathroom in our room was small and was more like a wet room but as it was quite small, it meant everything got wet through when we showered and didn't dry well so meant we often ended up with wet feet when using the bathroom. The room had a weird, almost damp smell, especially in the wardrobe. This meant we couldn't use the wardrobe as it would make our clothes smell and gave me a headache. The view from the room was just a wall which was disappointing and meant we had little natural light in the room. We had to leave very early in the morning, which was fine as we could check out the night before and just had to leave our wristbands however it would have been better to have a bowl or somewhere more clear to leave them in the morning and it also means that the doors to the hostel are left unlocked through the night with no one on reception, they could just use the same key system for the front doors that is used on the room doors. It just felt a little unsafe as anyone could have walked in through the night. We often found that the bar staff would be playing pool early in the evening, meaning that when guests were wanting to play, it would usually be being used by the staff. Obviously we didn't have a problem with them playing and had seen it in a lot of other places, but usually they would play later at night rather than peak times or when a lot of people were around. It's obviously not a reason to not book here, just a small improvement. We also didn't have our sheets changed whilst we were there or our room properly cleaned which was a little annoying, especially as the bathroom would get so wet. Overall, we did like the hostel and would stay again if we were coming back to Cat Ba but just a few things to be aware of.

The hostel itself was amazing, the restaurant area was great, the pool table was good and it was nice having games out that you could use (uno, chess, darts, etc). We really liked the wristbands for a tab and your room key, it means you always knew where your room key was and had no risk of losing it. When we were leaving, they had just put up plans for group events each evening which would have been cool to do. The food that we had was nice and wasn't ridiculously priced which is rare for an onsite restaurant and it was always quick. We were also on a street of restaurants and a convenience store nearby which was ideal. Our room was a good size and was pleasant.

Had a great stay! The beds were comfortable, and the rooms very pleasant. The common areas were also really nice. A special shoutout to Aurora at the reception—she truly went above and beyond with every request. Always available, attentive, and dedicated to providing the best experience, all with a genuine smile. She even spoke French! Highly recommend this place! ++

The window was bad and they didn't change our room, they didn't pick up the trash and they didn't clean the room either.

You can take tours, rent a motorcycle, do laundry, there is breakfast and a jacuzzi.

Perfect for the prices between me and my friend

Super responsive staff and always have a smile. Was greeted by pinky which started the stay off very well with a warm welcome. Breakfast is nice, could maybe have a drip coffee with the tea but that's all.

Very cool vibe. Rooftop hot tub 👍 2 for 1 cocktails. You will meet a tonne of other travellers here. Staff are chill. Pretty good breakfast in the morning but coffee isn't free for some reason. I had a really great time here. You will too if you're back packing
