Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

There wasn't much I didn't like besides the mattress that is not comfy and needs to be replaced. The shower needs a fan/extractor.
The unit had a little kitchenette. The unit is very small but everything we needed was available. It was neat and clean. The hostess was friendly and made us feel welcome.

The room was quite cramped and not very comfortable to navigate. The kitchenette and small table were useless as cooking is not allowed. So it only took up space of the otherwise very nice room

There was nothing we didn't like. Everything was to our satisfaction. Will definitely recommend this little "gem" to anyone. Thank you, Jurika and Deon.
Hospitality was great. Our hosts, Jurika and Deon, were exceptional. They were always there to help. The place was spacious and very clean. Had a lovely stay.

With a busy little one year old traveling with us, A Thyme and Plaice exceeded our expectations. Our place were child friendly and we had more than enough space to enjoy ourselves having as much comfort as we could. The hosts, Jurika and Deon welcomed us with big smiles and accommodated our check in time. (We checked in later as scheduled/indicated).

My Family took the option of all four available units. Two of the units are upstairs and as there is only a wooden floor between the top and bottom units there is a bit of noise from upstairs if you are in the ground floor units. BUT - This was no problem for us at all. Our hosts were superb and look for anyway that they can assist you. Off road parking was available. The location is great and within walking distance of the ocean.

The only thing was actually getting in to the place, not sure if the bell on the gate worked or not so we stood outside for a little bit. Could be wrong though.
The room was extremely beautiful, clean and neat. Denise and her husband were very friendly and helpful. Definitely took them up on their recommendations.

Our stay felt too short
The cleanliness of the place and interior decoration.The hosts were quite friendly it felt like home. This is closer proximity to town and all the hot spots, the hosts were a great help with that too. Please do the coastal walk in the morning, it became a favourite. We will definitely return again .

The smaller rooms are quite small. Small and cosy but there's no couch space (just bed, study desk, sink and cupboards, microwave).
Nice comfy King Size bed. Located close to the sea. A 10 minute walk. Welcoming hosts. Clean space. Not too far from town.
