Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Nothing, I highly recommend this place
Breakfast was very good and fulfilling, well presented,beds were very comfortable, garden well kept, from the first encounter you automatically become the member of the family, the location is excellent, rooms are well equipped, we were even allowed an early check in, they are lovely hosts!!!

There is not much I can fault. It was a great stay - perhaps I should have stayed a couple days longer.
The BnB is in a lovely suburban setting that is quiet and secure. There are a limited number of rooms, which gives it a really homely feel. The owners are amazing and very friendly, and the check-in and check-out experience was very easy. The room was spacious with all the amenities you could need and the bed was comfortable.

The room we were in was right next to the communal area and we could hear some breakfast preparation noise. However we were waking early so this was not a problem for us.
Excellent location and facilities. Breakfast was exceptional and all staff were very friendly.

Nothing. This is a lower/mid price B & B and is great value for money.
We booked a couple of nights here on arriving into Umhlanga and prior to starting out tour itinerary. We liked it so much we also booked for a couple of nights at the end of our tour as it is convenient for the Airport (20 minutes away). Well located premises, close to the centre of Umhlanga and the beach. Both easily walkable. Nice simple room and a great choice of breakfast foods, from fruit, yoghurt, cereals, pastries and cooked breakfast. There’s an ‘honesty bar’ with beers and wine if you fancy a tipple in your room or around the pool. Ample secure parking available.

We loved everything.
Anchor's Rest is a lovely upmarket guesthouse with all the comforts one needs for a relaxing getaway. The location is only a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Cilla and Peter are wonderful warm welcoming hosts.

Great location. Mouth watering breakfast served by friendly staff. Owners, Cilla and Pete, were very friendly and caring. Felt like home away from home with our stay. Will definitely recommend Anchor's Rest Guesthouse to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
