As a solo female traveler i had a lot of questions and Josie made me feel so safe and welcome from the very beginning! All the stuff is extremly kind and always ready to help. The Garden is wonderful, the room was cozy and clean. Dinner was delicious. And i loved the honesty-bar! Everything more than perfect for my first visit of SA. Thanks a lot!

No lunch available on the premises so any order had to be brought in which was confusing. Dinner orders had to be placed in advance though this did not inconvenience us.

The airport transfer was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast provided great choices and good value. The dinner menu was varied and again costs of food and drinks were cheap. The rooms are a bit dated but all furnishings are comfortable and practical. The garden surrounding the property is truly fantastic with incredible bird life for any enthusiasts staying at Avant Garde Lodge.

We used this location as we were flying the next morning and it is close to OR Tambo airport. We had the same room as we had the first week. Very nice, very comfortable. As we returned the rental car, we did not use the shuttle-service.

The shuttle service is great as we did not fancy driving in the dark on the left hand side of the road with a rental car. Friendly people all-round, and quiet.

There was a little mix up on my airport pickup but once I got in touch I had someone ready to collect me within 15 minutes of my call.

I love that you can stay so close to the airport without having the airport-hotel feel. The staff are terrific and the food was amazing.

No complaints from me - I'll be back!

When I arrived I was quite tired from long flights so it was a pleasure to have a comfortable quiet room with plenty of tea and coffee to relax in for a few hours before going into the garden to enjoy a sun downer whilst gently rocking on the swing seat reading my book. Dinner was delicious and enjoyed outside after which I sat by the campfire watching the full moon rising whilst finishing my wine.

Only disappointment was the swimming pool wasn't a swimming pool, it was a splash pool. When choosing accommodation I choose a place with a pool. Everything else was great.

Staff exceptionally helpful, food excellent, very homely, so easy to relax there. Super comfy and cost. Communal areas and gardens lovely. Shuttle service great. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Just a short drive from OR Tambo, very friendly and accommodating staff, beautiful breakfast. The facilities are a bit dated, but work is being done to renovate and improve. Thank you Josie and Armand for allowing our daughter to stay on while waiting for her afternoon flight.

I couldn't get the tv to work but that was no problem as internet was all I needed. The property is a bit isolated so you require transport to get you anywhere.

I am grateful that the hotel arranged a lift from the airport at about 6:00 am allowed me to check in very early. On it's own that is worth 10 out of 10. The hotel also organised a tour for me that was brilliant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and dinner was fabulous. Excellent cooking and menu. The room was large and comfortable with a separate bathroom. They did everything I required to manage a short stay in Johannesburg.

The location is only a 10 minute drive to the airport and the shuttle service is excellent. Fast check in and option to leave luggage for a longer period. Dinner can be booked in advance. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Everything is neat and tidy. Would definitely recommend.

Floors were still being relaid when I arrived, so not everything had been put back in place, but this was well compensated for by the prices and how welcome I was made to feel - Thanks Josie and staff. I was a bit cold in my room - should have upgraded to a fire!

Good location- convenient for Airport, but sufficiently far away that it felt peaceful and out of the way. Great shuttle service - Thanks France! Lovely hot shower. Cosy bedding.
