The quality of the roads, but I'm aware of the recent flood damage. Although I enjoyed the isolation, I felt a bit unsafe where I stayed.

We were one of the lucky unlucky couples that got stranded at Chamonix after the recent flood. My review is based on the treatment we got during out time of distress. Brywell and the staff were very kind and helpful even though they suffered damage at their own homes as well. Everyone made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible and the owners also ensured that we get home safe as soon as possible. We are truly thankful to all of you. If this is your service during stressful times, I can only imagine how awesome it will be when Franschhoek is back to it's tranquil self.

The endless rain, but that was no-one's fault!

We stayed at Lynx Cottage during the unprecedented rainfall that occurred on the weekend. The flooding was severe enough to wash away the bridge to the farm, and to block the road to and from our cottage with rocks and trees and other debris. Nonetheless, the cottage was undamaged and we could remain comfortable and warm regardless of the downpour, and we were even provided a case of wine by the staff. The bridge was repaired and the road cleared by the Tuesday so that we could leave. We will definitely return, the cottage was great!

Just the pillows was a bit to soft but other than that we were happy just the weather was not on our side so we couldn't use the pool. If it was heated I would have definitely jumped in lol.

My partner and I came for our honeymoon and it was just what we needed from the views to the friendly staff the quietness and the breakfast was great.

If you're looking for a nice warm stay that catches the last sun rays of the day, don't go here. You definitely need the stove in winter.

We stayed in the lovely rondavel near the waterfall, so not very close to the main building, which was fine. The estate is beautiful and the main building is a very nice place to have breakfast. Mr. Braaiwell did verything in his power to make us feel at home.

The Marco Polo Lodge is wonderfully characterful and comfortable. The tasteful decor retains the ambience of a former game reserve (although now toned down from the booking pictures). Wonderful scenic views across the valley and impressive mountains surrounds. Delicious made to order breakfasts. Very courteous and helpful staff.

I have no complaints!

This venue is exquisite at the top of Franschoek in the mountains. The view of the valley was breathtaking! Our 1st evening had Gail force winds and the Hadida unit was sturdy and wind wasn't even felt, only heard. The breakfast was excellent!

The dripping shower, I also had to have an ice cold shower as no hot water ever filtered through. On Saturday night we were unable to use the pellet Heater because it stopped working properly.

We loved the cosy beautiful space. The cottage is stunning and the Waterfall is amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Wonderful weekend submerged in nature.

The water temperature could have been hotter, especially as it was a very cold weekend.

Was met and welcomed by the super friendly Brywell who upgraded us to one of the executive suites. The views were awesome as we stayed in the same room on a previous occasion. One thing missing now was the wild animals who used to roam "freely" on the property. Apparently new owners have purchased Chamonix and are in the process of planting more vines. Breakfast was delicious and was prepared on order and there was adequate supply of fresh fruit, cold meats, muffins, cheeses and yogurts. We purchased a bottle of the farm's Pinotage and was a treat sipping it at the huge fire in the lounge.

The Manor House is a long way from the estate gate and the track is very bumpy. Taxi's are reluctant to do the journey, perhaps the estate could run a shuttle from the Manor House to the main gate ?

Exceptional views from the room. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast with lots of choice. Welcomed by friendly staff and made to feel very at home. Advised with all that is available. Staff were always readily available if needed.

It seemed a bit dishevelled as if the decor was being moved out. Some of the doors and windows were very tight and there were gaps in the decor. The bath water was not as hot as I would have hoped. I was also disappointed that the game reserve was no longer in the view as indicated on the website.

It has a beautiful view over Franschhoek and the bathroom and view from our room was lovely and luxurious.

The fact the animal reserve is gone. It made it a very special place.

The view is amazing here. This is our fourth visit, but we have never stayed in Marco Polo Lodge. We were excited to show our family the animal reserve, however that is gone now and there are plans to change the lodge. This is still a lovely place, the staff is wonderful, and you can't beat the breakfasts!
