uuhm. look, you're going for a kind of experience, and if you can read and look at photos, you can figure out if this is the vibe for you. they are very friendly, there's no skimping on that. the accommodation is quirky and funky, but clean and comfortable, but it's not the hyatt, and it doesn't try to be. so be lekker. food is really great but if you don't want to pay for every meal at the on-site restaurant (other than breakfast) book a unit where you can braai. (you can't run off and get a loaf of bread down the road, you're in the sticks) we had a fridge and a cool coffee pod coffee maker in the very tiniest of airstreams, so we had our romantic snacks in the evening after a late lunch. a previous time we were at the hideout or hideaway which is really in the nowhere, and there we kind of felt we wanted to phone a friend to be mister delivery or something. we left our car behind at reception and were driven up the mountain roads. you won't have that problem if you're in one of the airstreams. maybe the best policy is just to do your shopping before you leave gordon's bay / caledon, depending where you're coming from. grabouw has a spar and a pick n pay but if you miss those extended hours you're stuck with express shops and weird little places that charge an arm and a leg, so bring your own cooler bag with stuff to put in your own fridge. having said that - it's a breakaway on an apple farm where the hills keep rolling for days. you can lose the kids at the beach and have adult conversation and a massage. who cares about bread...

the breakie at old mcdaddy is always fresh, and delicious. there's food that caters for vegans, and there's food that caters for meat eaters / everything eaters. the vegan cuisine is quite good. the zen den spa rocks. and it's quite affordable. we stayed in birdie, the tiniest of the units, but it doesn't feel tiny because the bathroom is yours only, and the view from your hammocks on the stoep is spectacular.

The fact that we couldn't quad bike and the music was played from YouTube with ads in between... (sometimes the guest would play they're own music, catering to what they like and not thinking of other guests... I suggest getting a Dj for happy hour at the beach

Staff was amazing... Myself and my partner, initially booked at Elgin River Lodge. When they cancelled we were very sad but now we're grateful it happen. Old daddy gave us a VIP treatment... A presidential one to be exact.

The caravans are looking a little tired…wallpaper starting to peal…maintenance needing attention. restaurant staff a little slow on the service. not great to not inform us that we would need to shift rooms halfway through our stay…but enjoyed the bigger caravan. Would be great to have some entertainment for adults and kids.

Beautiful surroundings…with a lovely glamping concept. Dam activities fun. Food was tasty. Immediately offers solutions if there’s any issues.

I didn't like the fact that guests needed to pay quite alot extra to use alot of the amenities when we are paying quite alot to stay there. Breakfast was the same every day. That was quite disappointing

We loved every moment of our stay in the trailers. So serene and relaxing. Staff all friendly and helpful. Food was always delicious and filling. We intend going back at another time hopefully soon to the luxury glamping with family and friends ❤️

The STAIRS. Be prepared for a good workout if you stay in the higher caravans.

It was a great place to be away with friends and their families. It is so easy for kids. Meals were great. An overall good unwinding weekend. The beach area is great. Staff were great.

The trailers could be redone or upgraded as our one was a little dated and could do with some revamping. The cabins are quite close to one another. So many children. Almost every single guest had kids except us. We were expecting a romantic getaway. Breakfast was okay.

Views, decks connected to the trailers, quaintness, staff. Ambience was special. Beautiful setting.

Great holiday destination. Really unique to stay in these trailers. If you want a specific theme then best to email them and request it otherwise you get any trailer.
