Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Recently had the pleasure of staying at the Oryx B&B again. Its always an unforgettable experience. The reception was warm & kind which set the tone for the stay. The serenity & tranquility are truly remarkable which allows for a deep sense of rest & relaxation. The comfort & spaciousness of the rooms are noteworthy. The host offers exceptional service & delectable food which was thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. Will definitely be returning again when in the area. Thank you to the entire Oryx team for creating a haven of tranquility and excellence.

The owner went out of her way to accommodate additional members even if we had not arranged for them. She prepared beautiful breakfast take away packs because we were leaving early in the morning. The rooms were clean. The fridge had enough water and she even supplied more. Her hospitality is amazing. I fully recommend the place. Prof PL Lekgwara

Not a big fan of game trophies but respect that it comes with the territory

The location was perfect, offering beautiful surroundings The rooms were immaculately clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with thoughtful details that made the stay even more enjoyable. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, going above and beyond to make sure I felt at home. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared, adding a great start to each day. The lack of time to stay any longer.
A well decorated, spacious and comfortable studio in a quiet part of Mokopane. Restaurants & Bars nearby. A most friendly welcome by Ilse. Delicious breakfast 👌

My accommodation was up some small steep stairs, I would have liked to bring my large suitcase and in repack / reorganise . I could not find a hairdryer - that would have been a very nice thing to have in the room.
Accommodation was like a 5 star suite / apartment - so well thought out and catered, lovely touches with a mini cafeteire and rusks. The breakfast was exceptional - both in presentation and taste. Above and beyond.

Can you mention somewhere that the property has dogs so people coming are aware . They were well behaved, but an FYI would be great.
The space is clean and comfortable. The lady who welcomed us on Friday evening was very friendly . Loved her energy .

Great location, exceptional accommodation and excellent customer service! Breakfast was a feast which definitely set us up for the day! Three lovely dogs who were very friendly. A perfect stopover on our way back to Joburg and a trip to Bouncy Croc as recommended by our host (very informative guide).

Absolutely nothing!
There is so much to love about this property. The location is close to town, the hostess and manager were very welcoming and friendly and the rooms are very spacious and were top of range.

This property never disapoints! great service and beautiful rooms! Breakfast is huge and host goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and help you navigate Mokopane. Dogs are an added bonus :)
