My mom and I are blown away by our stay at Sheperd's Tree. Where do I start. The staff as a collective were another level of superb...attentive, engaging, positive, caring and wonderful to chat with. They go beyond to make you feel special. On arrival we were greeted by the smiling, warm presence of Boitumelo, who set the tone for what we were about to experience. We checked in and went straight to lunch to be greeted by lovely waitrons such as Mogogodo, Piet, Lesego and Simba (to name only a few) who made us feel welcome and relaxed. Piet, a superb waitron,  knew for example we loved our hot lemon water after our evening game drive so before we could say anything, it was in front of us. The food was amazing, we were very spoilt...Friendly head chef Sipho is making sure he is catering for all requirements, the selection of food was divine. Oscar the manager of house keeping is delightful and his team were just as enthusiastic..Magdalene made sure our room was beautifully 'refreshed' after each game drive, ready for us to relax and unwind. Genuine smiles all around. The game rangers work hard to make sure we spot the big five..it was freezing on the morning drives (there are ponchos and hot water bottles to help warm you up) and so they work together to update on sightings in the Pilansberg so no guest has to miss out.  We saw the big five and were amazed with the knowledge of Sean, Bright and Piet who we had as our rangers during our stay. Prior to the game drives there are lovely refreshments and on return we are welcomed to warm face clothes and hot choc or sherry. The rooms are along side a mountain and so you call a porter to fetch you and they are there in minutes..thanks to the likes of Neo for your quick service..sometimes we chose to walk to the room to get the legs moving after being treated like queens the entire day.  Tafa the general manager deserves a medal, he is doing a wonderful job.

Some rooms are a little further from the main reception so budget some extra time to wait for the golf cart to pick you up or if you would like to walk.

Nothing... everything was perfect. Weather was extremely cold,... maybe a hot water bottle on the evening drive as well?

Meals were excellent and provided sufficient variety for all. Room beautiful and comfortable. Beds comfortable. Staff all friendly and helpful too.

I didn't like that we were limited to ordering one alcoholic drink for the break at the game drive. Also there were no disposable cups for coffee on the go.

Absolutely nothing, it was exceptional

Everything was out of this world, from the rooms to the meals it exceeded all our expectations. The staff were absolutely amazing and we were always met with a smiling face. We loved every second of our stay and cannot wait to return!

The music in the restaurant was terrible - they had 3 songs on a loop for 2 days - I mentioned it to the staff, then they changed it the next day and had only 1 song on a loop - even worse. Come on guys - easy things to fix! Not sure we need music in the bush anyway!

The toilet seat in our room was the incorrect size, quite uncomfortable. The outdoor shower had a nice flow but the drainage was very slow

Absolutely everything! The place is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and so comfortable! King sized bed felt luscious. Hot water immediately in the taps. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is amazing and so delicious, especially the breakfast buffet. The facilities are great, i made use of the spa and I was so satisfied with my treatment. The game drive was good, and our driver was informative. Definitely value for money. 10/10

Game drives were really fun and the rangers were extremely knowledgeable - the package includes both morning and afternoon game drives Food was good - guests receive breakfast and three course lunches and suppers as part of the package Staff were extremely friendly It seems as though the lodge took all prior negative feedback into account and implemented positive changes. We accordingly thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I loved my experience at Shepherds Tree! Our game driver Kelvin especially made our trip so great. He was incredibly brilliant, and was so passionate about the animals and the reserve itself. He made sure we were comfortable and that we were having a good time. I would absolutely come back again.

The staff are utterly wonderful, always most helpful and professional. The spa treatments were relaxing and of the highest international standards. The Lodge Rangers are extremely knowledgeable, fun, passionate and go out of their way to have you see as many wildlife sightings as possible.

This was an outstanding getaway and we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed long weekend. The staff are friendly, helpful and very efficient. The game drives were fantastic and the guides are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic in sharing knowledge. The food was also amazing!

While the lunches and dinners were excellent, I felt that the quality of the hot breakfasts didn't quite measure up to that of the other meals. After the disappointment of the breakfast on the first morning, I opted for the continental breakfast on the other days.

The two game drives per day were outstanding. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional, and her enthusiasm and bubbly personality made our group feel like old friends. So, not only were the game drives interesting and informative, but they were also incredibly fun and entertaining. The rooms were very well appointed with probably the largest king bed I've ever seen! An alfresco shower enhanced the ambience of the bush experience, and a private balcony allowed for exceptional bird-watching, while taking in the sounds of nature. The lodge also has an excellent spa on the premises, which was a truly relaxing experience.
