Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We had a good stay at Wantage Suite. The bed was comfy, the place was very clean and it was quiet for a good sleep. Ian was very responsive.

Maybe better lighting by bed for reading.
Very clean and modern. Maria was friendly and really helpful. Great convenient location close to Rosebank Mall. Secure parking on the property. The room and facilities were very good, with a comfy bed, good linen. Kitchenette if needed.

No drinking water in the room; not particularly helpful when arriving late afternoon and then assuming there is water for the night before leaving for dinner (which should be standard). Just like last time, we had to remind the (extremely friendly staff) to make up the sofa bed for our daughter (although we booked for 3 people and the room was offered for 3 on booking.com). No cleaning of the room, dish washing and making beds in between days of stay. The airconditioning made a strange noise when operating it on heating (it was pretty cold the first night). Traces of water absorption at multiple walls in the room. No fungal formation yet, but paint blistered and cracked above the skirting. Some bedlinen worn beyond its time.
We returned for a second stay at the property because of our first 10/10 experience. Clean and large beautifully finished room, number 103, with all amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. Out of the ordinary offering of TV channels and perfect wifi connection. The outside is well maintained and beautifully finished. Contact with the property during the booking process was flawless, checking was fast (by the security guard?). Great location close to shops, eateries and other commercial places like Sandton, Melrose Arch and Illovo.

The apartment did not have Iron and Iron board.
The entire apartment, the bedroom, lounge, and bathroom was nice and clean. The apartment is secured with 12 hours of presence of a security guard. The apartment is very close to Rosebank Mall. The place is located in the upmarket neighborhood, which is beautiful and quiet.

Missed a hair dryer in the room.
My Company already paid for my booking, and then the fee was also deducted from my account on my last day. I sent a WhatsApp to Wantage at 23h22 that evening. The person manning the number immediately responded, apologized and arranged to pay back my money in record time. I feel it was human error, but the quick and professional manner in which it was handled and resolved impressed me immensely. Excellent service.

There was no iron in the room. I had an early flight so an iron would have been nice.
Spacious, good internet. Smart TV with all the new apps installed. The bathroom shower is also spacious. Love the fact that there's a microwave and a fridge.
