Set on the shores of Lake Akan, Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga offers beautiful hot-spring baths and a variety of shops and restaurants. The spacious Japanese rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring.

Staff greet you outside the hotel and give clear directions on where to park. Location in old town center minutes from the lake, eco center and cruise boat terminal. Offers free access to bigger and better onsen facilities in newer sister hotel in new town area. Breakfast is excellent with good quality seafood and many other offerings both western and Japanese style.
Located next to Hokkaido’s Lake Akan and featuring a pool and rooftop hot-spring baths, New Akan Hotel is just 656 feet from Akandake-jinja Temple. The spacious rooms have free Wi-Fi.

The hotel is very nice, the location unbearable for Akan lake; facilities are gorgeous; food is super delicious and abundant; restaurant is beautiful with gorgeous views of the lake and friendly and efficient staff; room large and clean . Hotel though is large groups oriented and during meals it looked like fight with gigantic asian groups super aggressively running around overfilling plates and stuffing themselves with food. Also at check in and every single day there were loads of enormous suitcases stored or left everywhere. We never took elevators as they were full to the rims with members of the tour groups. They were loud, noisy, disrespectful, aggressive and annoying. We felt minority and overwhelmed with the crowds. If one is looking for quiet experience that is not then place. There is a gorgeous rooftop pool that is as crowded as other areas. Too bad as it is otherwise an amazing property.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Overall stay was excellent. Loved the river views, onsen and meals. A great spot for a one night stay between Lake Toya & Shiretoko. Nice to have wild deer grazing outside in evening and even spotted a fox by the river.
La Vista was such a beautiful location just outside of Akan Onsen. The rooms were calm and spacious with an amazing outlook over the river. The food was outstanding as well
Nice view of the lake and mountain
Japanese style room has sofa and table area, in addition to tatami for 3 adults
Breakfast is good , with varies choices
Big hotel with massive onsen
The hotel is right at the lake with a Showa era flair to it. The tatami room with the lake view was comfortable and the onsen bath was a welcome relaxation after my hike. The staff was very friendly.
The room is large. We slept well on tatami mats which is comfortable and cozy. The onsen is all right. Buffet dinner and breakfast is great, good fresh variety.
Fantastic ryokan overlooking the lake. We had a huge room with a private onsen and fabulous floor to ceiling lake views from the windows. (It is worth paying extra for the lake view.) The room was spotless and so well equipped, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Dinner was exceptional and served in a private dining room. It was an amazing experience.
The ryokan was very close to the bus station, so it was easy to reach without a car. We used the bus from Kitami and the local bus to Kushiro Station.
One of the most unique experiences I've had - an exceptional stay, starting from the location next to Lake Akan, the tatami floor in the room and the wagashi offered, the rich and varied breakfast and dinner, the marvellous onsen and the lovely staff. The hotel is also decorated with magnificent Ainu culture symbols.
Love the onsen a lot. The japanese tatami room was very pretty. The buffet dinner and breakfast was superb! It's located just next to the lake. Overall very good stay!!
Best place in Hokkaido! Breakfast and Buffet Dinner included: great choices of Japanese, Chinese and Western food. Fresh food and high level choices. Lakeside view during meals. Great Onsen, friendly staff, shuttle to parking area fast and upon request. Big rooms, nice tatami styles, 5 people come for daily room cleaning at once and job is done so quickly, get as much drinking water as you need, afternoon can eat free Hokkaido potatoes, nice art exhibition area from woodwork, close to Ainu village, very friendly tour desk.
