Cottage is very spacious, traditional Japanese style. It has a private bath with mountain view. The only issue was no public transport. You have to take taxi $3500 yen from kawaguchiko station to the cottage. There’s no 24hrs taxi service in the area. The taxi service starts at 6am :( If you need to check out earlier than 6am, you’re in trouble.

The hotel is in a perfect location close to shops and the sky lift is next door. Easy access to local bus. The rooms are huge and 👍 soft bed not to firm and able to control air conditioner is a must. Food was great booth Western food and local Japanese sushi and ramen and alcohol was provided.
Featuring great views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi, Konanso features natural hot spring baths and large Japanese-style rooms with traditional tatami (woven-straw) flooring.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Asafuji. I booked this for our honeymoon, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable.
- I loved how convenient the location was- just a short walk from the ropeway
- Amazing, traditional meals for dinner and breakfast with a variety of small dishes to try
- Free shuttle from the train station
- Great women’s onsen with a stunning view of mount fuji
- Traditional roykan experience that we were so glad we got to experience after staying at typical APA hotels
- Incredible couples massage that was done in our room and relived all of the tensions from days of travelling across Japan
- Beautiful view of Mt Fiji and the lake from our bedroom
Overall, would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a hospitable, traditional experience in Mt Fiji

At an avg nightly price of $550 USD - this location was supposed to be our splurge. I got the room I reserved but based on the photos on the website - the standard twin Mountain View room is not on view there. The rooms shown all appear to be premium rooms on the 3rd floor. If you’re splurging for one of those rooms - great (the last minute room rate was $420 because the hotel was only at a fraction of capacity. I also rate the staff pretty low because this property bills itself as a ryokan but the staff did very little to provide that type of personalized interaction. Upon arriving at hotel we were instructed to sit and wait (no other guests around). After a bit a staffer came out with an iPad to confirm our breakfast time (either 8 or 8:30) and our breakfast selection for each morning. When I asked if we could choose the morning of based on each breakfast experience response was no - have to choose in advance for the next 3 days. Did we want to reserve dinner? Yes? That’s served only at 6 pm. When I commented that sunset was at 6 and could we show up a few minutes late - no. 6 pm or nothing. At breakfast guests are seated by staff according to how premium their rooms are. The first day the windows adjacent to the lake were all occupied by 3rd floor guests (I asked to move was told no) but the following 2 days - the hotel seemed empty and we WERE upgraded to the window seats at breakfast. Regarding lack of connection with staff - on our third day pulling into parking lot after a day of touring a staff member rushed out to meet us at our car needing our relevant check in info. When I explained we’d been staying there for a few days she seemed embarrassed and went back inside. Again - based on breakfast and room availability listed online - there were 4-6 rooms occupied at that time. Now the good - while expensive was excellent.

Everything was perfect! No complaints. Staff was lovely and accommodating. And the traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend staying here and we can’t wait to go back!
Providing garden views, 八海 木花館 in Oshino provides accommodations, free bikes, and a garden. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking, and free Wifi.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Absolutely everything. The couple who own the place are so friendly and accommodating, they made us feel very welcome. We rented a yukata each for a very reasonable price, used the massage chair and private onsen. The value for money was incredible! We also had a lovely breakfast in a beautiful Japanese room. The whole experience felt very authentic and it’s great we could do that with young children.
- friendly staff
- beautifull area around building, specially garden
- traditional japanese room with extra comfy tatami and futons
- in bathroom is asumi, perfect for relax after intense day
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice view of Mt. Fuji from 5th floor. Everything you need for Onsen usage is provided, even slippers, a bag and Yukata. Onsen in the evening was very cozy.
Beautiful ryokan experience. There was different options for Yukata and kimono rentals for the entire stay. Loved the wine bar. Booked a room with private onsen. The weather wasn’t great, but would have had a nice view if the weather was better.
There's nothing not to like. The service staff were excellent, the food was fantastic, the hotspring was good and the grounds were very nice to walk!
Personal onsen was very quaint and the access to free refreshments/drinks at the lounge was a nice bonus!
Also free yukatas for rent!
Loved the private onsen attached to our unit. There were sufficient instructions in English stuck on the walls to function the onsen and the heater in the room. It was nice to experience sleeping on the futon. Also loved the yukatas provided in the room. Breakfast was sufficient, with items being refilled constantly.
I had a nice and relaxing stay. The private onsen on the balcony was just great! I also liked the room and the size of the bed (I was travelling alone, so having the double bed for myself). It was nice to wear the yukata which could be found in the room. The staff could speak English and helped me with writing down my Japanese address. Everything was clean, and the light and the aircon/heater had remotes, which was nice.
I was a fun to get a ryokan experience, wear a yukata and sleep on a futon.
