Extremely helpful staff who if can't verbally communicate with you, would endeavour to do so via any other possible means. The room was very spacious, and even though it was of the old ryukan style, it was still decently up to date. The outdoors onsen maintains a traditional style but that's probably why you picked Kurokawa in the first place. One thing very noteworthy is their dinner, which they don't serve in your room but instead invite you to dine at their dining area.
Located in the centre of Kurokawa Onsen, Oyado Noshiyu offers outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, Japanese-style accommodations and a traditional teahouse.

We loved everything about our (sadly only) 1-night stay. Service, staff, food, location. Pure perfection. This was such a special and memorable experience. I would lie if I said this was the best sleep of my life....sleeping on traditional Japanese futons require some getting used to. Staff, service and food made up for the small discomfort.

The hotel landscaping was beautiful and exudes a sense of peace and tranquility. The staff was very helpful and greeted us at the drive in when we arrived at the hotel. There many options for the onsen and the riverside bath had an amazing view of the waterfall. Highly recommend this ryokan and will definitely come back again.
It's an exceptional ryokan with very calm ambience. The staff is very friendly and helpful, offering a free ride to the bus stop. Onsen facilities are of high quality.
Well located, quiet, serene environment as a ryokan onsen should be. The various onsens were beautiful esp the riverside onsen. The breakfast and dinner was well made too. Futon was comfortable and cosy. We slept well here.
Shinmeikan is a truly amazing ryokan/ onsen. The whole building just oozes authenticity.
Great tatami style rooms overlooking the river, super friendly staff who will help you with all your needs. Great onsen baths, especially the cave bad is spectacular.
Dinner and breakfast are equally high quality and display a variety of Japanese cuisine.
Absolute perfect place if you want to experience traditional Japanese onsen style ryokan.
Oku no yu was great! The staff picked us up from the bus station and dropped us off. The facilities had a public and many private onsens to try. The staff helped us set up our futons and there were yukatas for us in the room. We had breakfast there and it was very yummy. Overall, great experience and would recommend!
We had an unforgettable family stay at a traditional Ryokan in Japan. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel right at home. The serene atmosphere of the Ryokan, with its beautiful tatami rooms , and peaceful environment, provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Our family enjoyed the delicious kaiseki meals served in Ryokan and loved relaxing in the private onsen.
We highly recommend this Ryokan to families looking for a unique and authentic Japanese experience.
The cave onsen was a unique experience. They have private indoor n outdoor hot springs for booking. The English speaking female non-japanese staff was very friendly and pleasant. The ryokan also sent us to the bus stop when they learnt we are taking the bus to Hakata. Dinner was served around a fire place, giving a warm, fuzzy feel.
Clean, spacious room with comfortable futons, amenities and everything included.
Private onsen hot enough, indoor and outdoor onsen was clean, big and free flowing.
Small ryokan so it is quiet and intimate. Service was attentive.
Amazing ryokan, top-notch service, English speaking staff
Futon beds on Tatami was quite comfortable
Dinner and breakfast was very tasty
In the middle of Kurokawa onsen with everything in walking distance
7 Onsens, switching daily from male to female
Tattoo was no problem, not even mentioned
