Room was well priced and located within a 5 minute walk from Gero station. There is a slight incline to get up to the building, but really minor and not as bad as other reviews made it out to be, if you're unfit or can't carry all your luggage up that way then get a taxi. Staff was very polite and accommodating, and give you a brief tour of the Gero area with a map for reference and also provided coupons for use at 2 local onsens or 1 restaurant (just 1x free beer/drink). Room was pleasant to stay in as it was fashioned into a Ryokan, and offered most basic amenities in the room. Also had some lotions and other facial products for use in the common area next to the hot water dispenser with instant coffee mix or tea bags. They also had yukatas available for use with a thick winter coat available for the colder months. They offer breakfast with your stay, but it's really just some soup with two pieces of bread and a juice box ( it's enough to satiate my hunger for a few hours).

The meals were excellent and we enjoyed our private little dining room. Our room was very pretty, large, and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and kind. We appreciated the free shuttle from the train station. The upstairs spa was nice and the water a good temperature. The open air spa in our room was very pretty and they provided nice amenities.

Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.

There are 3 different onsens, 1 at each of their buildings for us to try. Very relaxing experience. The hotel location is amazing. It is walkable within 2 3mins of the Gero station but there is also an available shuttle bus at Gero station if u have too many luggages. The breakfast spread is fabulous too with many varieties of japanese dish in bite sizes portions to try out, help with preventing food wastage also. My kids were both excited to sleep on the prepared futon in the ryokan style room
Very clean and modern with a ryokan-atmosphere. The room we stayed in was great, the futons were comfortable and the room itself was large. Nice that breakfast was included too.
- the staff was exceptional courteous and very helpful
- Beautiful traditional room with comfortable futon beds
- good location near center of Gero
- free water, tea and coffee and breakfast included
- free yukata to wear
- try the private onsen! It is very relaxing, calming and has a nice view on a little garden
The inn was the perfect distance from everything we wanted to try. They gave us yukata to use during our stay that we used multiple times. The breakfast was great and we got a different breakfast on the second day! The private onsen was incredibly comfortable.
Clean and comfortable traditional inn with tatami floor and futon beds. Loved the private onsen that you can book for 45 mins. Staff were very friendly. Location was good too, walkable distance to the Gassho Village and the food street.
The futon was comfortable, the breakfast was complete and varied (includes both continental and Japanese breakfast) and the onsen hot springs were nice (they provided towels and you had a space to dry yourself up where you could find creams and other amenities).
EVERYTHING. The dream come true in a ryokan (and affordable). I truly love the private onsen. It was bliss. The room, the yukatas, the ambience, the fact that look like is brand new construction but in a traditional aesthetic. A dream.
This 93 year old ryoakn was an experience we will never forget! Surrounded by breathtaking nature on the outskirts of Gero, this ryokan provides a very authentic Japanese onsen experience. It was a joy to bathe in the thermal waters in the private bath in our room, as well as the public indoor and outdoor baths. The view from the room was amazing. We booked a traditional Japanese-style tatami room, and it was spacious, with a balcony, and mentioned private bath, an awesome experience.
Traditional and foreigners can get a good experience at this ryokan. All style dress in traditional kimono or yukata. They have staff who speaks English. Very organised check in process, you can tell they are well verse in receiving big volumes of guests. Very efficient.
Onsens are great. As guests, there were 3 to choose from.
