The Shepherd's Rest features a hot tub and free private parking, and is within 40 km of Moeraki Boulders. The property has mountain views.

Stunning location. Tiny but comfortable, clean and cosy converted shepherds shed. The outside bath with lovely hot water and perfumed fizzing bath bomb was an amazing experience, as was looking at the starlit sky later with no light pollution. The fact that there was no TV or internet, plus the composting toilet added to the rustic character of this unique dwelling.

Idyllic setting by the lake. The chalet was very well equipped and tastefully decorated.

It was great to stay in a grand old Fedation style house, which has been loved and cared for and altered by its owner, Roger, to become a comfortable guest house with heaps of character. We loved the innovation and collection of older furniture and memorabilia. Breakfast on the verandah with its gorgeous view was brilliant- and we loved chatting with our host. This was a memorable stay!

The room had everything I needed. I was able to keep my motorcycle under the veranda which is a nice way to start the next day with a dry bike.

Great location with shared kitchen lounge and bathrooms. Good value for backpacker style accommodation with private rooms and not too many guests onsite. My room was very spacious with nice views across the railway line to the ocean. Gorgeous sunsets.

A wonderful location , so close to town yet so very private, tucked in out of the wind with amazing sunset views. My wife loved the outdoor bath under the stars . . Every thing was well thought out and we had everything we needed .We had spent our previous 5 nights in a “luxury” hotel in Dunedin but to us this was , though different, a great deal better . Even the bedding and pillows were better and the room size not that much different .A great place to stay . Gerald and Tricia

Great modern unit with well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed, nice hot shower with great water pressure and added bonus of spa bath. Netflix included and car parking outside of unit. Super location with driving distance to town and 20 mins down the road from Riverstone Kitchen (a must visit before leaving the region).

Beautiful old building with plenty of its history dotted about the walls. Excellent location, so close to everything that brings a traveller to Oamaru. A good spot if you want peace & tranquility, good walks and plenty of wildlife (as in penguins roaming the streets at night). Well cleaned and refreshed daily and your dorm bed was dressed on arrival rather than just having the blankets provided. Solid duvet and extra blanket for a cooler night. Two kitchens and a large lounge. Pleasant unisex bathrooms.

Wonderful staff who made time to talk to us about the local area etc... Excellent location for exploring Oamaru. Great facilities, including hot showers, comfy beds, well stocked kitchens, clean bathrooms. Fabulous woodburner provided a cosy, homely feel to the hostel. Characterful building, with a lot of interesting history.
