United StatesThe house was in an amazingly good shape with their traditional architectural style intact! While the bathrooms were not attached to the bedrooms because the house could not be remodeled to change the existing structure (as it is designated as a Protected Traditional House), each bedroom had an assigned private bathroom with a good shower and fancy amenities. This probably is the closest you can get living like a Josun Dynasty aristocrat in the modern day Korea. The owner lady was very helpful in providing tips for restaurants and things to do and see and very attentive to our comfort. While it is conveniently located (if you have a rental car) to explore the whole South Western provinces of Korea (UNESCO World Heritage Site tidal flats!), I thought that just staying in the house perched on the wooden floor looking out beautiful trees and drying persimmons with a book in hand itself was a huge treat. I would definitely stay here again!

It is located in a small village surrounded by rice fields. It is definitely worth to stay here to see another view of Korea. To get there, we missed the last bus and our hosts were very kind to come and pick us up! He made me breakfast and asked what my favourite korean dish is so he could cook it for dinner. The room was also clean and comfortable. I will definitely come back to this place in the future when I visit Korea again. I highly recommend this place for solo travelers if you want to see the peaceful countryside in Korea. The rooms were spacious and clean, with underfloor heating. Overall the stay was comfortable, but you should expect a traditional bed (futon)! We initially considered traveling by train, but decided to rent a car instead - with hindsight, this was the best way to go, especially if you want to travel to nearby attractions (e.g. tea plants) or restaurants. The keys have been taken on the reception desk and it is possible to eat a Ramen for the first night but we choosed to move on the city for the diner. The breakfast has been taken with the hosts in the morning it was a typical korean breakfast we could admire the landscape and the story of the hosts, it was really peacefull and with a great discussion.
