But the whole team are fantastic being attentive and responsive to our needs and requests with smiles at the ready. The inclusion of your choice of breakfast is fantastic and it was the nicest breakfast and cleanest accommodation we had in our month on Sumatra We stayed for 5 nights but would have happily stayed longer. We had to move one night as they were full and stayed at Carolina Cottages but couldn’t wait to get back to a much more welcoming and flexible vibe at Hub Tata If you want peaceful lakeside spot and a lovely vibe with helpful good people and a delicious breakfast this is your place! Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse & Jungle Trek is set in Bukit Lawang. This homestay offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation features airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. The accommodation is basic but perfect for a quick rest before or after the jungle trek. The jungle trek itself was a great adventure - we were lucky enough to spot lots of orang utans and a bunch of other wildlife, and had a great time with our 2 guides (special thanks for their Indonesian lessons!). Big shout out also to the chef, we were so well-fed with the most delicious food every evening!

It is off the beaten track so it is quiet and peaceful (unless the neighbor has karaoke), but it is only a 10-minute scooter ride to the center. Breakfasts do not have a large selection, but everything is fresh and delicious (including local fruit). The staff tries very hard with every contact. Beautiful garden. Great food and nice view on the river from their restaurant terrace. They organised private transport from the airport and guided jungle hike for very reasonable price.

Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.

The staff (Arif and Risky) was amazing and so helpful. They were always available and present and had interest in us as guest.
