Great base if you're doing walks and activities in the area. Big shared dining room and good kitchen facilities - ideal if you're traveling on a budget like us. There are also restaurants and food trucks nearby if you don't feel like cooking. We even went down memory lane and watched a movie from the VHS collection in reception!
Located in National Park, 21 km from Mount Ruapehu, The Crossing Lodge & Backpackers provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a terrace.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Cheap budget accommodation with great friendly hosts and very accessible kitchen, lounge, etc.
Met some lovely other people here. Shared facilities as advertised and good value for money.
Old rooms with super thin walls. The kitchen was ok, windows left open and flies everywhere. Cheap place to stay for a night before doing the crossing walk.
Lovely place. Lots of crockery in kitchen to use. Really clean and great location. We enjoyed the walk to the stream.
