The Hotel Grifo was easy to find and just 20 minute walk from train station and just a 5-10 minute walk to see the Coliseum. The lobby is staffed 24 hours a day and the reception folks are great. Very friendly. Happy to help with directions and recommendations. The breakfast offered a lot of options and was very good. They do have a lift so heavy bags not an issue to get up stairs which are a bit on steep side. There are a ton of food options including a great gelato place and pizza takeaway place a 1-2 minute walk.
Boasting a roof garden overlooking Rome, Condominio Monti is in Via Dei Serpenti in the central Monti district.

The room is neat and clean. Luciano and Cristina are excellent. I’ve been touring a lot, and haven’t seen a host as accomodating, warm and friendly like Cristina. She is the best!

The Colosseum
The fights! The glory! This iconic arena specialized in gory ends. Built in the 1st century, it held up to 80,000 spectators who came to witness gladiatorial combat and bloody reenactments of naval battles. When you look up at the stands, it doesn’t take much imagination to hear the deafening roar of the crowds or to picture the fierceness on display.

Known everywhere, and the model for all outdoor sports arenas. Here Christians and war prisoners were made to fight to the death in front of thousands of spectators.
If you want to know what happened to the missing stonework, just go to the Vatican and gaze at St. Peter's. The 17th century Popes had thousands of wagonloads of these stones hauled to build St. Peter's.

Missed our booking to see inside due to traffic issues across Rome so leave yourself plenty of time to get to your allocated time booking if you decide to have a guide. A great place for the masses to visit walking around the area too.

Be patient because you will be navigating hoards of people.
Be patient because you will be navigating hoards of people. Some of the rudest encounters with people barging past and literally slapping my youngest with backpacks happened here. However, it's incredible to stand in this place. Seeing it at sunset is magical and the views from Palatine hill are totally worth it. Don't purchase the Rome Tourist Card with Tiqets - you will be horrendously overcharged for standard entry. Consider a tour (there's probably so much you'll never know just wandering around) or plan ahead and book direct.

My suggestion is book tickets and don’t do a guided tour.
My suggestion is book tickets and don’t do a guided tour.
Our tour guide took way to much time explaining the history than letting us see the area.
2 minutes on the ground level. Paid $$ for that experience. Totally disappointed!

Such an amazing and famous building which felt incredible being there after knowing about it all my life. However it is very overcrowded and we went at the end of September. I'd like to go back again in the winter when hopefully it's less busy. The 'full experience' tickets can only be bought online which we found out after queuing for a while and then found out they were sold out online. So it's probably worth booking a couple of days ahead for that. The basic entry was still fine though and you see most of it anyway. The Palatine hill and Roman Forum are very cool though and not too crowded

The location is perfect, just around 35 minutes away from the Colosseum, walking distance from their subway system. This apartment is so clean and with good natural ventilation.
The room was very clean! The hotel staff were so nice and held our luggage for us as we got there before the check in time (our room was actually finished early so we got in sooner) there’s two cafes right around the corner if you need to kill time. It was right next to the train station so not a bad walk at all and still a close enough walk to the attractions, about 20 minutes to the colosseum etc!
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Valeri, great room, comfy beds, splendid location, 15 minutes from the Colosseum. But what made the experience most wonderful was the staff. Francesco welcomed us warmly and gave us great advice on places to visit in the city and Wassim was a great host when we arrived after a long day of sightseeing. I would recommend Hotel Valeri to anyone who travels to Rome.
The location of the apartment is perfect - a few steps from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The neighborhood is nice, with 2 metro stops nearby. The apartment is clean and cozy.
This Hotel was Fantastic, so quaint, clean, SAFE & just perfect for all of your needs. LITERALLY a 4 min walk to the Colosseum; Like a 15-17 mins walk to the Trevi, cannot beat this convenience. The staff was probably one of the nicest ever (Antonella, Davide, & Sebastian were all so very helpful, patient & hospitable to all of our needs. Thank you guys so much!
Location is amazing, you are steps away from the Colosseum and it's a really impressive way to arrive in Rome. It was easy to check in with the hosts. Although we could not get in right away, we were able to store our luggage about 30 feet from the apartment doors which made things easy. We were a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 kids, and the space was great for us, however I think if you're traveling with couples, 6 adults would be more suitable.
The location of this property made it so easy to walk all over Rome! We were about 15-20 minutes from the Colosseum, around 30 minutes from the Vatican, and about 10 minutes from Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps. And the Trevi Fountain is literally right outside the door! We were not bothered by noise from this busy area at all. The beds were comfortable, this was the perfect apartment to share with our two teenaged children.
We had a wonderful stay at this apartment! It was clean, cozy, and exactly as described. The location is perfect – just a short walking distance to the Colosseum, so we were able to enjoy its beauty multiple times throughout the day and night.
Eliana was a kind and responsive host, making everything smooth and welcoming from the start.
Thank you for such a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rome!
The host met me at the property with the keys and took the time to explain everything to me. She was very responsive when I thought of more questions after she left. The apartment itself was recently refurbished and in amazing condition. You could see the Colosseum from the patio. Rome is a busy city and this was a quiet, comfortable oasis in the middle of it.
The location was amazing. The cappuccino machine was amazing. Umar at check in was welcoming and helpful. Did I mention the perfect location? 2 parents -2 teen girls- 2 bedrooms-2bathrooms-2 nights in Rome. This apartment was perfect. Take a night walk around the colosseum. Watch the sunset at Oro Bistrot. Grab groceries to make breakfast with the best cappuccino in town~ right in your own kitchen. Smart TV in the bedrooms made everyone relax and enjoy the “wind down” time.
