Our experience at Homm Stay Nagi Arashiyama was terrible. After a late check-in we were looking forward to a shower but when we opened the shower room we immediately smelled mold. Throughout the course of the night my wife and I both noticed every time the air turned on the room would also smell like mold and we both proceeded to get stuffy noses and by morning we were both completely clogged. The smell of mold was so bad that we left both doors closed to the bathroom/shower and opened the sliders to let in fresh air to avoid the smell creeping into the bedroom. That morning we went down to the front desk and asked if it was possible to modify our reservation and check out 3 nights early. The receptionist said yes - we would just need to speak with booking.com and request the modification which we promptly did. At the same time we booked new accommodations at a new hotel so we did not have to stay in a room full of mold. Later that day we recieved a message from the hotel that they would not refund the 3 additional nights that they previously said they would refund. They insisted that it was a “miscommunication” and that the staff could not smell the overwhelming scent of mold. They continued to refuse a refund for the nights that we did not stay and stood behind their 100% non refundable cancellation policy.
I will never stay at another hotel run by this management group. Their customer service is terrible and they have no integrity with their word.

Everything about this place is phenomenal, from the building to the staff to the room itself, it was a wonderful experience. The rooms were very spacious and stylish, and the shower and in-room onsen bath made it feel like we were spirited away to a mythical land.
The included.breakfast was a fabulous taste of traditional Japanese cooking, and the staff went above and beyond to provide a wonderful experience and make us as comfortable as possible.
Absolutely top notch value, highly recommend!

The room is very spacious and clean. A bit of a walk to the train station but not that far. Great food places around, amenities are great! onsen on the first floor was great too! We will definitely come back when we come
