As a largest town of South Bohemia is ideal as a starting point for exploring surroundings, Česky Krumlov, Trebon, Kratochvile castle, Prachatice, Hluboka... Old part of town is full of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance buildings. Nice to stroll and discover sights. Many good restaurants, like Mesne Kramy and U Tri sedlaku with excellent Czech food. It is a home town of Budweiser beer.

We've chosen Trebon as a base for our trip through South Bohemia. Stayed there for 4 nights, but mainly to sleep over. Liked the walks through the city center, but there could be more places to enjoy good beer. Local Regent beer is unfortunately poor but I hear the fish in the restaurants is great. Great nature around town.

I only stayed for a short time and it was just enough. I personally prefer to travel around and see different places rather than feel like I've spent too long somewhere. I was lucky enough to see this place in the snow and it's just beautiful. The views from the castle over the old town area when it's dark, with a bit of lighting and the snow just absolutely magnificent. "The Pearl of South Bohemia" is what I am told Cesky Krumlov is - and it's not difficult to see why!

We also used the sauna, which we really liked. A great choice is the common room for all apartments with the possibility of self-service - there is a bar with wine, beer, coffee, local products. The owners were great - warm and very helpful. In addition, we traveled with a dog and small children and everything was without problems.
