Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe photos on the website were misleading as the buildings and gardens need quite a bit of attention, requiring a good clean up and coat of paint, but the pandemic has been tough on a lot of businesses so that may have played a part? As there was no mention of breakfast being included we could have brought less food if we had known, but it was a lovely bonus. Chardonnay lodge was right next door supposedly serving regional cuisine in their restaurant. However despite their website saying they were open everyday except Thursday from 12 noon until late, they were only open on Friday and Saturdays which was disappointing but obviously not Coonawarra Units fault.
All the Staff were very friendly. The Units were clean and comfortable, and if required you could have adjoining rooms. The breakfast room with fridge was excellent with a great choice of foods, drinks and condiments. Many Wineries close by, some even walking distance away.

Our friends toilet needed maintenance, didn’t flush properly. Very limited time staff where on property. On arrival to property the front looks beautiful but this Chardonnay lodge a separate property. The grounds of the Coonawarra units not mowed and full of weeds. The photos on the internet for this property are old. Not maintained at all. No staff on property to checkout after 10am today. Keys put in the locked box.
Walking to wineries and adjoining doors to friends unit. Breakfast supplies offered. Clean, sheet and towels.

AustraliaWould have been good if the unused toilet paper holder could be removed and a toilet roll holder be installed in its place, instead of the toilet rolls just being sat on the cistern. The garden would have been great if the lawn was mowed. Breakfast a bit basic. Overall just need a bit of TLC.
It was very quiet. Good size room.

AustraliaThe room was very large and was comfortable. Over all it was clean, but the racked ceilings needed to be de-cobwebbed (no spiders present). The rooms are dated, but it kind of adds to the overall charm of the setting, and this didn't hamper the stay in any way. A great location for a larger group - we had 9 in our party.
It was a really lovely setting and the bed was really comfy. A great place to stay with a group of people. We arrived after hours and the communication from the staff was really good. They have a room to collect your breakfast items from to have in your room - simple continental breakfast, but all that we needed.

AustraliaThe place still has the overhang from COVID and needs a refresh with some work on the rooms and surrounds. Windows were in need of a clean and gardens needed renovation. The place has great potential with the spend of some money.
Great location right in the heart of Coonawarra wineries. The rooms were good size and had good facilities. Breakfast supplies appreciated.

AustraliaThe BBQs were cleaned at our request and our suggestion is that BBQ tools are made available to guests.
It was a very comfortable stay in a central location. The heater in the BBQ area was excellent and the area was well lit. We had a large group and the accommodation worked well. The offer of room service via phones each day was appreciated. It was convenient to have a restaurant (Chardonnay Lodge) right next door so a short walk.

AustraliaDidn't like that the curtains needed fixing and the panes of glass over the doors didn't have a cover to keep out the external lighting. The shower heads also needed the calcium buildup to be removed as the water coming out was either non existent or like needles the holes had become so clogged. We were able to do this for ourselves once we worked out the problem however the first shower was very bracing! No daily servicing of rooms which didn't bother us but would bother others.
Situated within an easy drive of all the best wineries in the Coonawarra, or even a walk if you were very keen. The sound proofing between the rooms was excellent. Hot water was immediate and always in full supply. Liked the breakfast room concept.
