My first stay I booked an all girl dorm but when I arrived I was told it was under renovation. I was not offered any alternative nor price reduction while I had to sleep in a mixed dorm. My second stay, towels and blankets were not available which was an issue unfortunately. Breakfast is not very good.

Staff not helpful, only one speaking English. When I asked for toilet paper, cleaning lady was chatting with her friends, she wasn't very happy when I insisted I needed it right away. All bathrooms were out! Bathroom paper bins not emptied enough. Rude attitude of most of staff, except guy that checked me in. No Aircon until late in the day! Place is hot and humid with a lot of mosquitos!! Lights by beds not working.

Just some details that can be easily improved: put an additional hanger to dry clothes, repair the breakfast area’s roof (it rains through it), build a small retaining wall with shower curtain in the 2nd female bathroom so that it doesn’t get all wet when showering.

Location right in the historical centre, old building with charm, very abundant and varied breakfast, lovely pool, friendly staff (outstanding were: helpful and smiling receptionist Carlos, the cleaning lady, the breakfast lady), very powerful a/c (during nighttime), good vibes.

The only thing is: the pool is kinda sketchy and not really usable… Also, it might be great to advise the guests to be quiet past a certain time in dormitories, the girls in my room randomly turned on the lights and started to talk loud around 11pm as if there wasn’t half the persons sleeping… backpacking classic I guess !

The poussada is lovely, and the staff is really really nice and helping ! Breakfast is really great ! The whole place is quiet and nice and could just use some extra love (:

The room was good, the bed was comfortable, but the air conditioning leaked all night and I had to listen to the dripping into buckets as night soundtrack.

Staff is not very present or available. The breakfast is good, but it feels thrown there. Depending on the time, there will be items that are no longer available. Also, the breakfast isn't actually ready at the beginning of the specified time slot.

Hotel has seen better days, Breakfast ad minimal, we went down at 8:30 (breakfast goes until 10). Little left, tables all dirty, staff eating. The front staff was sitting on the phone, I thought they were guests, had to ask them where to check in before they even acknowledged me. Does not look like pictures!

They only turn on the air conditioning during the night, so it’s very warm during the day. They could have provided more bathrooms, I was in line to take shower and to use the toilet

The house is big, it has a swimming pool, the staff is lovely and they organized a party at night that was pretty fun! The breakfast is good and with a lot of options.

Very comfy beds, individual and not so many people on each room. The swimming pool is a nice touch given the heat. Very well located place. And nice to have breakfast by the morning.

Some of the personnel were incredibly kind and helpful, others were the opposite of helpful and bordering rude. Some days the breakfast was fully served at 7.00 sharp, other days it wasn’t until 8.30. The pool was out of order for 2 full days, because it was “under maintenance”.

Very centric location, large common areas, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. I have mixed feeling about some management issues (see below).

Cats everywhere. I counted about 8. Even cats attempting to eat the breakfast in the morning, Daytime staff competent, however I cannot say the same about the evening and nightime staff.

With the ongoing building works, this hostel could possibly become the best in Sao Luis. Best hot shower I have had in Brazil. Some weekends their is good Live music at the hostel with free entry for guests. Exceptionally good and varied buffet breakfast. Relaxed management. I would return
