Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great experience at the Vila. The apartment was large a d comfortable. Pool was nice. Breakfast was amazing and served directly in the room.

They only gave us one set of keys and existing/coming back to the villa or the room was a little annoying if separated.
The location was great and the villa was super quiet. The room had AC and was quite big. The breakfast every morning was incredible.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. They assisted with our suitcases, brought them to the room, recommended things to do in the area, and even set up breakfast in our room, which was a nice touch. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the location is just a few minutes from Quadrado.

The environment was amazing, very clean, near the main square 5 minutes walking , but at the same time in the middle of the nature! Amazing swimming pool and amazing breakfast home made !

Good location to walk to the beach or to the quadrado. The pool, steam room and outdoor shower were great and a nice area to relax after a day at the beach. The patio outside our suite was huge, very nice.
We were brought breakfast in our room every morning. We asked for sauteed bananas and they made them for us. We asked for prosciutto instead of ham but they could not get that. We were able to use the rolls to make a sandwich for a snack later as we had plenty of pao de queso to fill up on. Delicious fresh fruit, the pineapple was good the first day, but then we asked to have more mango and no pineapple as the next day it was flavorless.

Mosquitoes… it’s not the properties fault, but just be aware that Trancoso is set in the forest / jungle, so take plenty of strong repellent and treat your room with knock down spray before going to bed.
Very stylish, generously sized apartments with comfortable beds. Just a few minutes walk from the quadrado where most of the restaurants and bars are located. Staff were excellent - they came and made breakfast in one of our rooms for our whole group so we could eat in the local style each morning. The manager (Iang?) was really helpful and friendly. He took us on a fun quad bike expedition to see some beaches off the beaten track. I highly recommend the property and would love to come back.

Breakfast could have been a bit more varied. Beach towels were only changed every two days as a standard, which given the frequent use wasn't the best - daily changes would have been better. Note that the street the accommodation is on is a dirt road with a lot of potholes that isn't super well-lit.
Spacious villas in a gorgeous setting with great facilities and amenities, including a beautiful shared pool. The concierge was very responsive and super helpful with recommendations and support to book e.g. dinners and a tennis court. We have basically no complaints other than two nitpicks!

The street where the hotel is not really nice, full of holes and mud, so you need to be very careful walking there.
The property is amazing! The swimming pool is super nice, breakfast is delicious and fresh in the room and location is close to quadrado. There you can hear the birds singing and is full of green :)

The property is new. The vila we booked was very clean and comfortable. the owners and staff helped us make reservations at beach clubs and restaurants. we really enjoyed our stay there.
