Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

There was no coffee or tea provided in the room. Would have been nice to have it complimentary. Having the possibility of hanging coat and clothes. There was no room cleaning during my 8 night stay.

It's a pity that there is no kitchen in the room.

We had no negative experiences at this accommodation.
We loved our stay in this beautiful house. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable, and are connected by a very nice bathroom. The house is located in a very safe and nice neighborhood, 5 minutes walk from a subway station. But above all, the hosts are very kind, polite and respectful people. I recommend staying here and I will definitely come back next time I visit Toronto.

The location is great that it's accessible to subway with many shops and restaurants. We stayed there for 8 nights and felt home that the room was clean and comfy. The environment is also nice and peaceful.

it would be nice if they have water provided during our 3 day stay . the other room has no A/C
it's only few blocks away from yonge st. The place is close to most of my friends' houses.

Good location that's about a 5 minute walk from a TTC station, a nice park and walking trail, and access to plenty of restaurants and shops within 10 minutes walk.

The location is not perfect but it’s not complicated to get around with public transportation.
It’s a very comfortable room, the shower it’s amazing and also the toilet is all automated with an incorporated bidet. Simin and his wife were very kind and kept our luggage before the check in and after the check out. The communication was very easy and so was the access to the property.

I recently stayed at Toronto Modern House with my son, and I had an excellent experience. The room was beautifully designed, and it was everything that I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The location was also convenient, with easy access to public transportation. I didn't notice any inconveniences. Everything corresponds to the description of the room.
Our room was comfortable. It has everything you need (including a hair dryer). We were met by a polite, pleasant manager. Check-in was convenient. The photos match the room's amenities. I would like to note the cleanliness, silence, beautiful area and fresh air in this place. It takes about 10-12 minutes to walk to the metro through beautiful, well-kept houses and a park. There is a grocery store, cafes, coffee shops, Starbucks and public transportation nearby. There are many green trees, squirrels and we met a raccoon late in the evening.

Sometimes hard to park but overall everything was fine
