For us, nothing!

The young lady at reception was incredibly helpful and spoke impeccable English (which we both appreciated). Our room was huge, with a double length balcony which overlooked a quiet residential area. The bed was very comfortable and a good size bathroom. A pleasant 15 minute walk to the Rhine and city centre.

Breakfast was good but in a basement without windows. Restaurant on ground floor where we had dinner was a bit creepy, with a solitary accordionist playing to a small number of diners...

Very well located for "Messe", but also old town (south of the river) is not far (15 minutes on foot, or one can jump on a tram/bus).

Great location with tram access to old town. Front desk staff very helpful. Hotel provided free passes to tram system and help finding correct lines to get where we wanted to go. Room very comfortable. Hotel kept our bags while we explored prior to boarding our Viking cruise.

Clean and comfortable rooms. Free coffee service at welcome. Staff is helpful. It is just 2 min. far from the tramp station.

Nothing! everything was great.

The hotel , even though a budget hotel surprised us with coffee capsules and water bottles daily. A lovely bonus when travelling, they also offered us the Basel card with museum discounts and free tram pass. An amazing bonus in a rather expensive city like Basel. The location is easily assessible by tram and you can walk to the old town is less than 15 minutes.

I wanted twin beds and there was but they were right up against each other. We moved them apart slightly. But I was disappointed. Also on arrival, I was early and just wanted to leave my bags. I was greeted with an accusatory “you’re early, your rooms not ready!”rather than a friendly hello first. All other staff were lovely but I was not impressed with the first greeting and to be honest it impacted my stay in Basel.

The location was great, easy walking to the city center but also well connected with the tram. Couple of nice restaurants in front of the restaurant. Breakfast was decent.

The shower door leaks and the bathroom is flooded... Wish the mattress and pillow were more comfortable.

A nice clean hotel 15 min away from the centre. Friendly staff and a breakfast which is good value for money. The hotel provides water and coffee in the room.

The sheets had hair on it the first day as did the shower so the cleanliness was not great.

Location was very good, esp to the congress center. And there were many trams to access other parts of Basel

Room was large and comfortable, having balcony with a nice city buildings view. Bathroom - modern, spacious and bright. Staff polite and helpful. Getting a free Basel Card at the reception is also beneficial. I highly recommend hotel Alexander.

There was construction behind the hotel which was a little noisy upon checking in but did stop at a reasonable hour so not to interrupt our sleep

very friendly staff, we got a space in their garage for our e-bikes. our room was very clean, we liked the layout, good mattress, own bathroom with shower (view in the direction of backyard - so it was very quiet). breakfast with many options - even oat milk available. hotel comes with an elevator.
