Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongThe staff at the Giggling Tree are great. They make the place so good. Always proactive, accommodating and willing to help. Great facilities nearby for biking, climbing, kayaking etc. and the team will book and arrange these at decent prices. Food is good/OK. Perhaps better for kids than adults. The hotel was recommended to me by 2 sets of friends and I will do the same for any families visiting

ItalyLocation is very convenient and close to many hot spots. Room is very clean with a nice view of the mountains, staff is extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Every activity including transportation, tickets etc was planned carefully from the staff. The hotel is constantly being renovated whilst maintaining its traditional charm. We felt right at home.

The Giggling Tree was just perfect! It is an amazing hotel - friendly and welcoming, lovely room with amazing views, wonderful staff and restaurant. Laura was simply brilliant and made some great food recommendations. Eating in the quaint courtyard restaurant area was perfect, especially the Beer fish from the Lijiang River! Great dumplings too! And the pool was a nice bonus with fantastic views. Good bicycles to rent and trips/taxis can be organised. We'd love to return again one day - the scenery is simply unforgettable! Thank you Laura! New ZealandThe shared bathroom in the two bedroom room has 2 windows into one of the bedrooms but the windows don't have proper coverings so you can see in (and out). This means it is not really private when using the bathroom or for the people in that bedroom. The other bedroom only has a paper and thin wood door so isn't soundproof at all. Note that the 2 bedroom option has only the 2 bedrooms, no shared indoor living space, although a balcony is available accessible via one of the bedrooms. There isn't anywhere to hang wet towels to reuse, they changed them daily though.
The staff were incredible, super helpful with organising activities and transport and really lovely people. We stayed in the 2 bedroom on the 4th floor, it has really good views and each bedroom was large with a huge bed. There's also a rooftop hangout area available for guests, with gorgeous views and outdoor seating. The restaurant was great, they let us BYO wine, even kept it in the fridge for us and provided glasses. There are bikes to hire (cheap), a pool and the riverside area for biking or walking is close by.

NetherlandsMost friendly staff! We stayed in the suite in the new building with a gorgeous view. Very comfortable and modern. The old courtyard was perfect for breakfast (good options!) and the dinner on the terrace very ‘gezellig’. We even used the pool. The staff arranged all drivers and activities for us. Very special place!

Hong KongOverall it was an amazing stay and I rate it with 10 points. The only negative thing is that the modern guesthouse faces the neighbour building pool. It can get quite noisy until 10/11pm with children playing in the pool.
Excellent location. Nice ancient building including with new guest house with modern interior.

LuxembourgThe matrasses were a bit hard, but nothing to complain about
We loved the hotel from the second we stepped onto the proprety. The front yard was cosy and was a lovely place to have breakfast or dinner. Our daughter could roam around without any danger. The food was amazing and the whole staff was super friendly. English was spoken as well. During our whole trip in China this was our favorite place and we felt sad leaving it. The rooms have a vintage feel and look, the bathroom was modern. The location, the view from the pool, the staff, the food was extraordinary.

ItalyNice hotel near the river. It's the perfect place to enjoy the countryside and avoid the confusion of the city center of Yangshuo. The staff is very nice and they speak a good English. They are also always happy to help you for any issue or to organize your trip around Yangshuo. You can choose small room in ciuntryside style or new modern and larger rooms in a new buiding close to the original one. Hughly recommended also for the foreign tourists

Hong KongAll their staff were so amazing and went out of their way to take care of my family and I. They’re super helpful and their service was absolutely top notch. I love how they have their on site restaurant and served great western and Chinese food which meant we could pretty much choose to stay in the hotel all day long if we wanted to. It made meals for kids a lot easier and stress free! The small touches pushed the experience over the top - when I brought an apple to the courtyard for breakfast they immediately asked if I wanted it peeled and cut!

FranceThe site is beautiful, the staff super nice. This hotel is perfect for a family with kids. There is space to run around, the swimming pool is easy to access with a nice view on the mountains. Our children enjoyed playing with the 2 rabbits owned by the hotel, they can feed them etc.. The staff does everything to simplify your stay, from the daily service, to the organization of some activities. You can rent bikes to discover the area. The restaurant offers a large choice of meals, Chinese and western. The Chinese food on the menu is amazing (beer fish and cucumber salad as an example). I really recommend this hotel!

United KingdomThe food is a bit on the expensive side when compared to what you can get locally, but it was delicious and the location and convenience was obviously a massive advantage so can't complain too much
The building and courtyard were beautiful, it felt very special. We went in the winter and there were fires in the common areas which felt like a really nice cosy touch. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious and the furnishings were lovely. The food at the restaurant was good.
