We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

BelgiumWe went to this hostel because it was cheap but this was one of the worst experiences we had. First, we waited for 2hours just in front of the door. It was impossible to enter despite the codes given by the reservation on Booking We even saw other customers who also had difficulty getting in. When, finally, a lady opens us, it's to confuse us by saying that we booked only for 2 people while we were 3, had reserved for 3 and had all the evidence by email. When she finally decided to give us a room, it was to discover a room with dirty and used sheets. She gave us another one a little bit better, but we had trouble sleeping because of bed bugs and uncomfortable beds. To put it simply, flee, to be avoided. I still prefer to pay an expensive room if it is for a quality like that (service, staff, room and especially accessibility too bad!!)

HungaryThe owner hadn't sent the code, so we had to wait an hour... It was very dirty. There were bedbugs everywhere, so after the first night we got bites all over our bodies, so we had to walk around the beautiful city of Prague with itching spots... We spent a lot of time and money cleaning all our clothes at the launderette... I hope we don't bring those little parasites home with us... My friend's door opened easily, but they could not lock it from the inside. Our lock was completely stuck, so every time we wanted to get in we had to try to turn the key 10 times or more. There was a cleaner who didn't speak English or any other language apart from her own, so communication was terrible... When we checked in, there were drying clothes (underpants) on the window of our room, which was strange. The first morning around 8.30am someone knocked on our door, it was the cleaner, she wanted to come in for her clothes, but she tried to explain in (I think) Vietnamese. The wifi wasn't working.

SpainI stayed in this hostel for 3 nights in April 2024, and unfortunately, it was that bad that this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review for accommodation I have stayed in. Major complaint 1: Inability to enter the hostel upon arrival. There is NO ONE to let you into the hostel when you first arrive unless the cleaner happens to be there. No one answers the button on the building door, no one answers the phone number provided online. I waited for 2 hours to get in and then only because another guest came out of the front door and gave me the whatsapp of what I assume is the owner. I contacted this person and they directed me to a lockbox and gave me a code. I had never had this situation before (not being able to get in), but I gave them a bit of the benefit of the doubt as I arrived before official check in time. But two nights later, I came back late evening to find a family with 2 young children standing in the cold and rain, also unable to enter just like me. As a guest had helped me get in, I in turn helped them by giving them the same whatsapp number, and they received the lockbox code. Fortunately for them, they had not been waiting long, but if I hadn't come back just then, how long would they have been left stranded in the wet and cold? This is sufficiently egregious that I feel compelled to file a complaint with the tourist authorities in Prague. This surely violates a code of conduct for licensed tourist accommodations. Major complaint 2: Basic necessities lacking and I get blamed One evening I came back to the hostel and there was no toilet paper. I contacted the owner, and he told me the cleaner would bring more the next day (!) I explained that it's a basic necessity the hostel must provide and that there is none in the male or female toilets, and he countered by telling me I should have informed the cleaner that morning if there was a shortage (as if that is my job).
