We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe hot tubs/spas were not very hot. The hallway where our room was located lacked any kind of decor. This was markedly different from the main hall downstairs. It just looked as if it was forgotten or removed and never replaced. A small thing yet noticed.
Room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Bathroom was also very spacious. Really liked the room entry set up to hang coats, hats, shoes, and umbrellas. One of the owners they called Peter, actually helped our daughter get up the hill by carrying her large suitcase. Then, we received a fruit plate sent to our room. It was lovely and helpful. We are guessing it was from him. He went way above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

North MacedoniaHalf-trained staff at the front desk that argue with the guests for issues arising from hotel’s internal miscommunication, poor housekeeping that leaves behind displaced and unwashed coffee cups, rude spa attendant that continues a tirade in Czech despite being aware that we don’t understand the language… And, everybody being so surprised to hear that we don’t speak Russian.
Impressive building, spacious rooms, convenient options for accessing the city center.

Czech RepublicI tried second time and confirmed that it was the last. Not sure why it us that popular. Maybe spa procedures are awesome, but for me, it has lack of “personal touch”. Staff if 50/50 good/bad, and if you are not lucky, they will ruin your stay. Sauna is small. On the other hand, everything I requested in advance was done, chef during the breakfast was super useful. But overall - same as last time - I was a bit disappointed by overall feeling. Of I compare it with main competitor down the hill, Imperial is far behind, mostly because of people.

The room was great and the view was awesome. Breakfast was good (very good compared to hotels in Germany;) ). Quality of coffee was quite good considering it was from the machine and I was happy to not get a simple filter coffee. You could choose what you like.

GermanyThe hotel is very beautiful from the outside and offers great views from all sides. The lobby is huge, but somehow it feels cold and unwelcoming in terms of decor. The room is spacious, very beautiful, and beds comfortable. Everything is extremely clean. It has a historic charm, taking us back in time. The hotel was built in 1912. Very interesting, like traveling to the past. The spa is quite small and not relaxing,, with a small Finnish sauna, a relatively small pool, and two Jacuzzis. For a 5-star hotel, this is quite limited. They offer various hydro massages, massages, and treatments with mineral water. This is nice. Breakfast is good, but if I stayed more than two days, it would quickly become boring. For a 5-star hotel, some variety is needed instead of offering the same options as in most other hotels. They have very tasty prosciutto and Champagne for the breakfast , that is cool :) Bus number 15 goes to the city center and is free for hotel guests. We didn’t try the cable car, so we’re not sure how it works.

GermanyOverall there is nothing big that would make me stay away from this hotel in the future but there are always improvements and I’ll just mention some of them :) Breakfast was okay but really nothing special, not what I would expect from a hotel that positions itself as a 5* hotel (same with service overall). There were not so many good vegetarian or vegan options and sweets or baked vegetables ex didn’t taste good. It’s okay for a couple days when you are there as it’s always included but if you prefer something really good, skip it and go to the city in one of the cafes, they have a few good ones (like Elephant or pizzeria familia next to it, ex). Parking was really weird as even after paying by arrival with a car number mentioned it never opened automatically and was always needed to call. Facilities are rather old and in couple years would need renovation, especially swimming pool area. Jacuzzis somehow almost always stayed still and there was no logic when they turned on, once we had to wait more than 20 minutes till they started bubbling which is kinda weird. Should turn on much faster if they make a break, not for 5 minutes per hour. Overall a bright cold light which feels like a public swimming space rather than a relaxing spa, so probably it’s not your choice if you want a good modern facilities. By arrival there was spider net on the bathroom walls and a huge bug sitting on a window, so maybe a bit more attention by cleaning not only obvious parts would be great :)
The hotel is probably the most famous in Karlovy Vary and therefore worth the visit when you are here. The view over the forest is magnificent, much better than the “city” view where you don’t really see anything special, rather the sport facilities and for extra money. It’s quite old and transferring you to what feels like couple hundred years ago. However it has a very good price/quality ratio as other similar hotel in the upper part of the city which from my pov is indeed 5* was at least twice more expensive. The rooms are really spacious, we got lucky to get an extra large room and many thanks to the hotel for fulfilling the bed request. The interior is great for a hotel of this kind, especially liked the picture of the wall and green/red colored walls, it was a very fine color match. There is a mineral water fountain on floor 1 where you can drink it with your own cup, very practical. There is a funicular to the upper part of the city with colonnades, cafes and beautiful riverside. Funicular is free for hotel guests (as well as bus 2, 3 and 13 afair) and takes a minute to bring you down.

NetherlandsWe were a bit dissappointed in the spa facilities. The sauna itself was very small and we were only able to use it once the entire week we were there, as all the other times we tried to take a sauna it was "packed" shoulder to shoulder with people. With such a large facility, you would think you would add another sauna to the hotel. The hottubs were also quite small, but at least there were two of them.
The room was vey spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good and offered a lot of variation every day. There were a number of spa activities, such as massages etc. offered if you were so inclined to take advantage of them. We had a Thai massage which was very good. Also, the use of the fenicular going up and down to the center was a godsend.

RomaniaGreat hotel, great location ,great legacy. This hotel experienced his gold times on early 20th century. But 21st century didn't arrived...yet. The service level is 3 or 4 stars. Check-in procedures takes very long time, restaurant staff is not trained( no cleaning tables, preparing for new customer, no smile, no minimal welcome hellos,), the breakfast and dinner is faaaar away from 5 stars. The Spa is very small, crowded and absolutely minimalist. The rooms are OK, but is not checked daily for cleaning and coffee and beverage refill ...

United Arab EmiratesI am not satisfied with the food quality at hotel. I had dinner buffet at my first night and it was not good. The food options was very limited and salads and vegetables was not fresh. I highly recommend to add more international options to the buffet that all travelers can enjoy. I don't give 5 star point to the breakfast also. Breakfast buffet was same everyday, very limited options without quality of 5 star hotel, only one types of eggs and served cold. the staff does not clean the dishes at the table.
I had a great holiday at Hotel Imperial. Hotel location was excellent. My room view was superb and I can not explain how I enjoy the view everyday. Coffee machine at room was great & I appreciate the house keeping and room service. Spa facilities, swimming pool was perfect.
