Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

I stayed in Mango, which was a beautifully stylish and luxurious room with lots of extra finishing touches, making my stay a real pleasure. Breakfast was delicious and the host was very welcoming

No parking directly at the b&b but station car park 3mins away.
Quiet, place was spotless. Jane the host knew where we could get a great evening meal.

A very comfortable room with No 22 in a great location close to the station. Jane provided an excellent breakfast too.

Absolutely nothing, it was perfect.
The house was beautifully decorated. The room was really gorgeous. Everything you could have wished for was there. Jane was so welcoming and helpful.

TV bit outdated would benefit from a smart TV for more modern viewing via APPs etc.
Lovely accommodation, Jane was very friendly and helpful. Very comfortable and high specification with all amenities. Good breakfast selection again high quality. Overall very enjoyable stay and I will be returning in the future.

Rooms were immaculate, clean and very comfortable. Bathroom finished to a very high standard. Walk in shower was lovely. Jane was lovely and accommodated my early breakfast needs without hesitation.

The two minor slight negatives relate to its location, whilst good, it entailed crossing a busy road and a short walk across the main bridge to the centre of town, and the other was parking. Whilst we had no problem, the landlady facilitating a parking spot immediately in front of the house, this would likely be impossible in the summer months. Instead parking would be a few 100 yards away.
The accommodation we had at the top of the house was most of the upper floor divided into three elements: a bedroom, lounge area and a bathroom with a separate walk in shower. The quality of the fittings was exceptional. The bed was very comfortable. The decor was very much to our taste.

Having traveled extensively around the world, I can confidently say this place met all my expectations for comfort, style, and service. I’ve never been happier to find myself in Barnstable—it felt like a stay at “The Pig,” but at a fraction of the price. I only wish I had more reasons to travel that far from London again. Would absolutely stay here again! Don’t miss out on the breakfast, that’s a must for your stay.

The house & room were absolutely stunning it was all to a very high standard, bathroom was amazing!! Beautiful decor & even the products available were luxurious. Very warm, cosy & like a little apartment. Location was fab & walked into town for a lovely meal within about 5 mins walk. Jane was a lovely host & breakfast was very good! Will definitely be back! there was no parking but this was OK as there is the local train station a stone throw away and really cheap parking

The street could be a little noisy but we did have the windows open so it wasn’t a problem for us.
It’s beautiful and so clean. Perfect location and the bed was so very comfortable. Just fabulous.
