“Host Ricardo was very helpfull. He guided me around Ruteng and also to Wae Rebo. He's a master at entertaining the kids in the villages. The food in the homestay is very tastefull.”
“I stayed for one night and felt immediately comfortable in the house and garden.
There's a lovely little hut to sit in and overlook the town. It is up in the foothills and quiet.
My room was spacious with a lovely window outlook.
Hironomus and family are warm and welcoming. I was able to share meals and some time in the evening.
They organised my transfer to another town and I was picked up at the door after an early and generous breakfast.
I was touched by Karleta Homestay's kindness and hospitality.”
“The view from the patio of this homestay was breathtaking.
The owners are so lovely and accommodating with wonderful ideas on things to see and do.
The sunrise opportunities were bountiful in such a beautiful valley.
Communication with the owner was excellent and he even arranged to meet me at a central location and organised a scooter if required and a rider to take me to the Hobbit Cave and onto my next accommodation.
Shared dinner with the host and fellow guests was unique and delicious.”
“Great location with beautiful grounds. The rooms are adequate but the noise from adjacent rooms and outside was very bad. In the evening there was a lot of noise from the room above and some loud traffic noise from the adjacent road. Took a sleeping pill and used earplugs but got woken up at 04.45 by a nearby mosque which was very noisy for 10 mins. Five minutes later church bells started, which intermittently rang for the next hour.”
“Definitely stay here if you’re in Ruteng :) And definitely do the sunrise rice fields tour in the early morning with Jeff.
Everything about this place was great - the location (not in the centre, but not far away and the surroundings are beautiful), the climate (it’s not too hot as in other parts of Flores), the food and especially the people!
We stayed two nights and Jeff and his family made us feel like at home. He even helped us later when we had some troubles during our road trip on Flores.
Thank you so much again, terimah kasih, gracias, děkujeme..! :)”
“We had a great stay at Wisma Po'ong. Peter and Carolina were extremely welcoming and caring. We didn't have a lot of time but Peter had suggested many great activities to bring us to. The breakfast was delicious and whenever we needed anything Peter and Carolina were happy to help us.”
“This homestay is lovely. Comfortable room with beautiful hosts. It was a little outside of town but we had a scooter so this was no problem for us. No shower but again no problem as hot water was kindly provided for bathing in the morning. I enjoyed breakfast and was grateful to have a different breakfast each day.”
“Nice peaceful location about 15mins by scooter outside of Ruteng. Located on a ridge, it had really nice views of the surrounding rice terraces and mountains at the back and front of the property. The property was dated but squeaky clean. There was hot water, which was a godsend after driving in the rain. Staff were super friendly - the owner Jeff speaks great English and his wife and sisters were really welcoming and great cooks. There was an excellent vegetarian dinner for 30k. Breakfast was nice too.”
