Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomFabulous location for train station and walking to Malioboro. Short (cheap) Grab taxi to Sultan’s Palace area and easy access for Prambanan & BOrobudur. Great pool, spacious rooms and very reasonable spa prices! Pool-view worth the extra.

United StatesSome of the dining room staff is new and learning - not a bad thing but not always attentive to guests. Like much of Asia, alcohol drinks aren't so great but are relatively expensive.
The dining courtyard is very pleasant - open air with a large fountain in the center. We found it cool and pleasing. Our room was smalll but very nice - an excellent value for what we paid.

NetherlandsThe restaurant is good if you want to stay in the hotel. We really enjoyed the special BBQ evening they did with music but the service isn’t always consistently good.
Very nice scenery in this hotel! Gives you the vibe of the old colonial times. The staff of the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful and really made the difference for our stay! We spend the day with the hotel driver and car and really enjoyed his company and sharing Indonesian culture with us. Terima kasih wonderful staff of the Phoenix hotel!!

JapanThe food in the restaurant wasn’t as good as in restaurants off site and drinks were overpriced. Allowing smoking by the pool wasn’t great. The smoke from the people on loungers next to us blew in our faces. Please make the whole site non smoking.
Very well located hotel with helpful staff and a building with charm. Very good selection of food at breakfast and a nice spa.

NetherlandsThe location was a bit further from the centre than anticipated. To get to the part of yogya with more restaurants or to go to places like the Keraton a taxi is necessary.
The staff was very friendly, they helped us arrange a trip to the Borobudur with the sunrise at Punthuk Setumbu. More than enough choices for breakfast. The food on the menu is very tasty as well. We also used the gym and the pool, both were nice.

RussiaOne minor area for improvement would be the reception area. It wasn't immediately clear where one could sit to rest after a long journey, especially when one person is busy with registration, and another is waiting. However, this is a small issue in what was otherwise a flawless stay.
From the moment you enter, you are surrounded by lush, meticulously maintained gardens that create a serene atmosphere. The hotel features an impressive array of facilities, including a restaurant, a lobby bar, a garden, a swimming pool, a mini-museum, and a spa. The greenery and the attention to detail are remarkable, and there's always staff available, ready to assist at a moment's notice. The food at the hotel is delightful, with a luxurious breakfast that surpassed all my expectations. It's evident that the meals are prepared with the freshest ingredients. My room was incredibly comfortable, and I was particularly impressed with the excellent lighting in the bathroom — a feature that is often overlooked in other hotels.

IndiaCould be more generous with quality and quantity of Tea, Coffee, Complimentary water in the rooms. Breakfast could offer more options of continental dishes.
Great boutique hotel, with artistic and aesthetic interiors. Hotel has made the best of its space and organic growth with multiple wings, a courtyard functioning as restaurant extension, central fountain, beautiful swimming pool and decorative pieces all around corridors showcasing local culture. Close to railway station and not to far from the heart of Yogyakarta town, it has everhelping and courteous staff. The hotel has some good history of special guests like ambassadors, political leaders, etc of around the world who have stayed at the suites here.
